I would love a de-crippled K-mount and would be prepared to pay extra for it.

I have heard of film flatness problems with the 645N & NII models when set to 16 frames per roll. The original model can only do 15, the later models allowed either to be selected though in the N it can only be done by a Pentax technician, a service which is no longer offered. So, if you go for this model, check what it is set to. The NII can be set by the user.

I understand that when set to 15 shots the rollers are always in the blank portions between frames, leaving the exposed sections flat, while if it's set to 16 frames the rollers are on the section of film that will be exposed. This can lead to focus/sharpness problems if the camera is left for a while mid-roll.

If you go for the 645 and you want to get really shallow depth of field, you'll be better off with primes rather than zooms.

I wouldn't expect a repair to be expensive for someone that knows what they're doing. It would be a shame to waste such a good lens. On the other hand, this lens is very sharp wide open and will still be useable to a good degree.

Ahh, the eternal decision of whether to put it in the bin or put it on ebay.

I recently tested some of the higher quality Pentax 28mm lenses (K28/3.5, M28/3.5, M28/2.8 version II, Vivitar 28/2) and the K28 f/3.5 came out on top for sharpness and colour rendition. I'd say it's perfect for landscapes. I haven't tried the K30 though.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the K20D hunt. I think they're pretty easy to find online, I've even seen some for sale secondhand in Spain.

This looks perfect. The Sigma 10-20 appeals to me but it's slow and flares, the 15mm isn't wide enough and is too expensive. If this Samyang performs well, as it should because it's APS-C only therefore the hood is designed for APS-C, not FF, then it could be my wide-angle solution
