Very nice!

You got through a dozen rolls of film in one day?

At least you tried (sort of ) and broke out of the comfort of using just zooms. I enjoy using primes more than zooms, but a good zoom can add so much flexibility to many situations where getting the shots is more important than enjoying the use of lovely primes. My Tamron 17-50 gets use for holidays and weddings etc, but for everything else it's primes.

Having said that, I've done a couple of holidays (London, Paris) using virtually only primes, and found the experience quite liberating, though there's a huge temptation to take too many lenses. I took the WR 18-55 for something wider and in case of rain, but now I have the 21mm, the width is less of an issue, though 18mm is considerably wider than 21.

Makes me cry when I think of what I paid for mine, worth it though for a great lens.

Jonathan-Mac I have just invested in an DFA 2.8 100mm macro, and
DA 2.8 35mm macro ltd. Both are great but the 35mm is a beaut!
Ah, that explains it then...

I have the same lens and it's my favourite. Wonderful image quality and fantastic to use.

Many zoom lenses will also bring considerable quality increases over a kit zoom, though I (and many other Pentax users) prefer the primes as there are some really beautiful ones available.

What primes are you using?

Though it's seen as the weakest link in the DA ltd lineup, it's a good and useful little lens, though overpriced new. If it's gone, I hope it's because there's a new faster version coming.

Pentax need to be adding new ltd lenses, not removing them.

Pentax wasn't originally the company name anyway, the company was Asahi Optical Co., Pentax was a name they put on the cameras (Asahi Pentax) in the same way that Canon SLRs are labelled "EOS".

I think it's a good move. Anything marked "Pentax" is a Ricoh SLR or system camera, all the compact stuff becomes simply Ricoh. It sets up anything branded as Pentax as Ricoh's high-end gear.

I wish you and your wife all the best. It must be very hard every day. I know what it's like to have a seriously ill spouse, though a permanent disability must be even worse.

I'm glad to see someone got this. I just recently got one for myself and it's fast becoming one of my favourite lenses.

The Pentax 67 is my dream MF camera. I sometimes travel with my 645 but even that's big for trips, if not necessarily too heavy as I only have 2 lenses.
