Here's a selection of photos from my recent trip to Stockholm. These are just the ones that I processed either in-camera or on my phone and uploaded to Flickr while I was there, there are hundreds more on the memory card waiting to be sorted through and processed.

The Tamron is clearly the better option of these two for general use, in my opinion. A fast aperture is much more important than simple telephoto reach, and while WR is useful, any lens can quite happily survive a bit of rain with some common sense applied (shield when possible, dry off when indoors or rain stops). My Tamron has worked through rain many times, as have many other lenses which are not WR.

I recently got back from a trip to Norway (Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo) and Stockholm. I had with me the K3 as my main camera, with the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, DA 15, 40 and 70mm limiteds and the M 135mm f/3.5 as a longer option. I also had a Yashica Mat 124G 6x6 medium format camera on which I shot five rolls of Portra 160, but I haven't picked up the developed negatives yet.

Here's a selection from Norway. These are just the ones that I processed either in-camera or on my phone and uploaded to Flickr while I was there, there are hundreds more on the memory card waiting to be sorted through and processed.

There's some good, common-sense stuff in there, thanks for posting the link.

However, "3D pop" does indeed exist and the "medium format look" (by which I assume he means very shallow DoF) can be yielded by some 35mm gear, in the right hands.

Number 5 "My Family Will Be So Happy I’m Bringing All This Gear on Our Vacation!" - has anyone ever said that? My wife gets p***ed off by the amount of gear I usually take (sometimes I do too).

I got a couple of the third party ones and now that they've had a bit of use, the difference in how long they last (compared to the Pentax one) is much greater. One of the two barely holds a charge despite having hardly been used. The other manages a day of shooting when on holiday. The original Pentax battery is much better.

Oh Dear !! I was given an MZ-5 -- the flash holder spring was already broken so I have to hold it up with my 'Little Pinky' if using it for fill-in -- now worried about that 'gear' you mentioned --
The gear in one of my 5Ns failed a few weeks ago. I have received my order of a few new brass gears from a company in Poland so I'll need to see how it goes replacing it. It seems to be fairly difficult to get to the gear in order to replace it.

Good luck with your search, I'm not parting with my DA 15mm

A word of warning - the DA 15mm is prone to de-centring, whereby one or more elements is not properly in the optical centre of the lens. This causes one side of images to be softer than the other. I've read a lot of reports of this on the net, so make sure you check for this with any lens that you buy. A good 15mm will give you nice results though, so worth getting one.

Weren't M37 lenses for SLRs around before M42 lenses? The size had to be increased to allow newer, faster lenses to be used.

I've never come across an adaptor, but then, i think I've only ever come across one M37 lens in my years of acquiring photographic equipment.

Edit: yes, M37 was pre-M42. I found some links which could be useful. The second one is a French company selling adapters, though obviously I don't know if light will leak.
