Cheers all, I'll give some of those a try. is the firmware relatively easy to update?
Yes, but really you need the rear LCD working, and from your video neither LCD seems to be showing anything.

If we can stop the shutter problem then we can move on to firmware upgrade.

No guarantee this'll work, but it's free.

Take the battery out and leave it out for at least 24 hours, during which time any internal stored charge will hopefully have dissipated fully.

You're ideally looking for the camera to require input of date, etc, which will mean that the internal memory should have been erased.

If this doesn't work, leave the battery out 48 hours, etc.

What we're looking for is the camera to 'forget' everything including, hopefully, it's confusion!

Good luck.

I have followed this thread with interest, but am concerned that we're losing sight here of two simple facts - (1) this is a photography forum, and (2) what is done is done.

I understand the emotion deleting the thread has caused, especially as for a number of people perhaps the contents of the deleted thread are close to home, but there's only one person here who we should be concerned about and that's Louise, who I'm sure is heartened to know that so many people care.

It is for Louise to agree or disagree with Ken's actions, and from what I have read he has emailed her.

If she is now content with things, so should we be.

Well after some tests it seems that +10 is not consistent throughout all the apertures or focal distance. For instance at a close distance and F/4 the setting needs to be at +10 whereas at focus to infinity and F/11, i get better results with +4 than with +10.
Is this common?
You'll find various recommendations/suggestions for distance to target, but generally, test (a) wide open, and (b) if a zoom, either at your preferred focal length or the average of three readings taken at shortest, middle and longest ends of the zoom's range.

Or just leave it in PDF format for her to load on her phone or tablet?

I have pdf copies of all my manuals on my phone and tablet; much handier 'in the field'.

Polarising filters can/do cause odd effects on wa lenses, in particular with blue skies.

To answer your question, try Marumi, great price/quality balance.

Not the only sellers of course.

How about simply being able to delete the thread?

Ditto much of what has been said, but to add one comment, and that's to do indirectly with the resizing of photos.

In a number of the galleries this also moves the 'Previous' and 'Next' arrows around, so as a viewer you're constantly needing to adjust the mouse cursor in order to move between images, which I find annoying.

That said, 'The Beach' is perfect with no movement of the arrows.

Overall, though, I love your work.
