Hope this doesn't come over wrong, but scene modes on the Kxx cameras are for the more casual photographer who doesn't want to get overly involved in the workings of their camera - it's point and shoot with interchangeable lenses. That said, plenty of serious togs use them too and get great results, but that's not the market sector the cameras are pitched at, hence also the plethora of colours.

More fun snapping than serious making of photographs.

I have never used LV or video on my K5II, so can't give a first hand opinion, but from my own reading of various reviews and posts it's fair to say that video is not a high priority for Pentax, although the K3 is an improvement I understand.

The K-01, K30/50 used/use a different processor that favours video more, so might be a better choice if video is a higher priority for you and you want to stay with Pentax, otherwise I regret other marques do better, but at a price.

As with most DSLR's from all manufacturers, video is a 'me too' built on I'm afraid.

Usual problem I find with surveys - closed questions.

Just an idea, but as a practice 'exposure' target how about a street light during the day?

I know it doesn't move, but small dark target against bright sky.

Could be it's already set to auto.

Look in the Custom menu. Don't know about the K200, but on my K20D it's item 12, but in any event it'll be called something similar - WB Adjustable Range.

Toggle Auto off, then try the FN button again.

The PROOF.

I have just take five brand new never used, packaged SD cards. One each 1, 2, 4, 8 & 16 GB - so two SD and 3 SDHC. I Inserted them into a K20D camera, and the screen message is "Memory Card Error". Accessed the menu, selected format, the formatting screen present for a few seconds before it returns to "Memory Card Error".

Took each card, ran it through formatting on my PC, returned it to the camera and could take and save images immediately.

QED
I was interested in this, so I too took a new and unused card (2gb SD), put it in my K20D, and it just worked. Didn't even have to format it.

It appears the little silver 'screw' is actually a button that operates a pin, so to release the pin you have to slide the silver button away from the lens, at the same time turning the ring to unlock it from the lens.
