I didn't think it would last.
However I think 24 hours would have been nice. Perhaps folks who saw it might PM any thoughts to Aura Todd.

There is a link to photography in the thread. Mental health issues and well being can be a driver in someone's photography. It's also there in art.So cruel to stop the thread, just hope that whoever pulled the plug doesn't have the same issues to deal with in the future. From a personal perspective I suffer with depression and my photography acts as therapy.

Naive me. I thought a glitch was responsible. The thread disappeared as soon as I posted a response.
In a way, it seems that a glitch was responsible, even if one with a human face. Common sense and a little empathy might have let it be.

The deletion of AuraTodd's (Louise's) post prompted me to find out a bit about Aspergers Syndrome, which she says she has. I'm even more annoyed now that I realise the effect it might have on her.
I think I'd better go for a walk now.
Quote:
As soon as we meet a person we make judgements about them. From their facial expression, tone of voice and body language we can usually tell whether they are happy, angry or sad and respond accordingly.
People with Asperger syndrome can find it harder to read the signals that most of us take for granted. This means they find it more difficult to communicate and interact with others which can lead to high levels of anxiety and confusion.
Asperger syndrome is a form of autism, which is a lifelong disability that affects how a person makes sense of the world, processes information and relates to other people. Autism is often described as a 'spectrum disorder' because the condition affects people in many different ways and to varying degrees. (For more information about autism, please read our leaflet What is autism?)
Asperger syndrome is mostly a 'hidden disability'. This means that you can't tell that someone has the condition from their outward appearance. People with the condition have difficulties in three main areas. They are:
social communication
social interaction
social imagination.

As has been said - all too predictable. At least they are consistent ...
Mannesty has almost said it all. The only thing I can add is that many Asperger - and Autism if not too severe - sufferers seem to find that written communication/interaction, such as a forum like this, is easier for them than face-to-face, for the very reason's Mannesty quoted.
Recent research into Autism is indicating that autism is not the lack of sensibilities, but that they are way more sensitive to the world around them than 'normal' (meaning statistically average) people. Ideal for art, photography and the like. And that they suffer from a veritable overload of sensory inputs, so that they can't see the few that we recognise as culturally key because of all this 'background noise'.
Sorry, Peter, I do realise that the above statements may make you even more annoyed
Anyway - there is another site of which several of us are members which is firstly a community. And which I know has several members who have relatives with similar difficulties. AuraTodd is a member ...

I sent Louise a PM so that she knows that, on this forum, we care.
I wonder if the moderators would allow the original topic to be re-posted and if they are concerned, then apply locked status with the suggestion that members could send a Lousie a PM.
At the same time most of us will be aware that our areas of expertise are limited by our experience, education, and professionalism, and would be careful in not offering Louise advice which could be counter productive.
Thanks for the heads-up Peter and the search tip Algi.

As much as I agree with Peter, especially as I have a son with severe learning disabilities (although I did not see Louise's post) I find that last statement to be nearly as bad as the removal of the thread.
Posting your disapproval is one thing, posting to tout for business is something else entirely (whether it be on purpose or not).

All of the above x2
Shameful, but O so predictable I'm afraid, I think we all know who is responsible.

Whoever it was that deleted AuraTodd's thread with a plea for help and advice, you should be ashamed of yourself.
She clearly has few friends from whom she can draw comfort, but she counts us among them.
I hope you receive the same treatment as and when you ask anyone for help.
Do you have any idea the trauma you could be putting her through now? I doubt it.
She may not even have had time to read the sensible advice in the replies. You could.should have left it a bit longer at least.
Whoever you are, I'm disgusted and this might just be the straw that I need.

Maybe by saying "BTW, this 'General Chat' forum is supposed to be photography related so it depends how sympathetic the moderators are to your anxiety whether this thread is deleted or not." brought about its demise?
(Yes, the thread was archived by Google as Algernon pointed out.)
Sorry for your troubles Aura.

Mike, I stand corrected. But it was not my intent to "tout for business". In fact there is no "business" involved. It's a facility to be used - or not - that I thought might be valuable in this instance. My wording might have been coloured though by my frustration ...
