Hi John, sorry to here it, I too started with a Pentax MX back in 1979 and have remained with Pentax ever since, currently using a K20D. I'm fortunate in having most of what I need and would like to have lens wise but must admit the lack of some products in Pentax fit is disappointing to say the least. I thought this may have changed with the release of the K5 but there's no sign of it just yet. Have you considered using a rear converter with a 90-100mm macro lens as an alternative? Just a thought, but if your mind is set on change then I wish you every luck with your chosen new system.

Looking to trade my DA-15mm Ltd for a Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6. DA-15/4 Ltd, boxed with both caps and pouch, very slight silvering to knurled edge of front lens cap otherwise pristine condition, pictures on request.

Regards,

John

I am toying with the idea of buying a used D700 and a couple of lenses to start with (I have had a good offer for my K7 and will be selling it), rather than a 2nd K5 and can't make my mind up which way to go.
I keep debating whether to switch to Nikon or not, but I think I'll see what the next Pentax offering is like first. Can't be more than 12 months away now.

Whilst optically amazing value for money the AF on the 55-300 is a dog. If Tamron could make a virtual equivalent of the Nikkor 70-300 AF-s for Pentax then that would become my back-up long lense (to the DA*300) or for greater flexibility and weight saving.
Same here it would find itself alongside the DA 17-70 when travelling light. I can see one problem though, my primes would get less use

Nice set but I find the dark triangle above the star wars fans head very distracting, looks like a wizzards hat

No need to shout, opinions will vary vastly and it depends what you want it for.

The main problem I have is the lack of a fast focussing zoom that goes to 300mm and competes with the Nikkor 70-300 AF-S. The Pentax 55-300 is optically very good - in the kit form is fantastic value given the results - but just so noisy and slow when it loses focus.
We could do with a Tamron AF 70-300mm VC USD in Pentax mount:

I started a poll but interest seems limited:
