Leeds Street togging.

Had a visit to the open market in leeds today. It's not a style I feel comfortable with, but gave it a go and as time went on slowly got into it.
You have to be very spontaneous and have a keen eye and quite a bit of nerve.

The contrast with the asian dress, to the left of shot, and the bright Hawaiian shirt couldn't be greater.

The chap in the last shot looks like he's about to punch you for pointing a camera at him.

All nice enough shots, but shot three is the definite keeper - I love it! Great colour and framing.

Agree with Karl about the last shot, not usually good when the subject has visibly clocked he's being photographed.

You see if your going to wear a shirt like that, your going to get some attention.

Snappy', your right with what you say, you need brass balls.

When I have a go at it I feel so conscientious and it takes a bit of time to get over it. Getting your first shot in the 'can' can raise your confidence...

I certainly did when I went with the GF to get some shot's of the recently opened Trinity Walk, in Wakefield. Security gaurd came sprinting over dressed like one of the characters from Men in Black. For those who don't remember that far back, they look like FBI agents. Anyway informed me I couldnt take photos because of the security risk. LMAO anyway it's there land and they make the rules. Wont stop me trying again though. LOL

Ignore them 'jobsworths', Snappy'. I have had my fair share of those people in and around Canary Wharf, they don't hold any power at all. If it ever came to a court ruling the judge will not even honour it, it's that preposterous.
I've pushed them to the point of action and they do nothing...
Anyway, it's no longer the case in London, and so it shouldn't be anywhere else.

They have roboguards in Derby also (curly wires sticking out of their ears). They don't get nasty just get in the way being obstructive saying its more than their jobs worth to allow me to continue.

I emailed head office and will be issued a pass for next time I go (I have to advise seven days in advance) and all will be well. Not so sure I'm that bothered - its a bit of as dump.

Very different in Burton on Trent - they don't care. I don't think Leeds is that bothered either, nobody accosted me on my last trip.

As to the photographs, great colour and atmosphere so keep taking the p....s

I love the shot of the Iron Maiden guy

The framing of 3 makes it, lovely shot and series.

I hate to go with the crowd but the handbags shot is the best of this series. For a change, a street photo that really wouldn't work in monochrome!

... from my experience of snapping people he's been caught in that transition state .... i.e he's seen the camera but hasn't quite computed his reaction yet.

I've got people snapped with those kind of expressions who've gone on to smile.

Thanks for the comments guys, all points taken onboard. And think I need to concentrate on framing and composition, which is very hard when doing street shot's.

There isn't time. You'll lose the moment(s). Concentrate on scanning around for the charismatic things to shoot. Shoot them and move on.

Shoot a bit wide and compose/frame when you get home. And be prepared for a much lower hit:miss ratio
