Have read a few quick reviews that say the 8-16mm performs very well and everytime I see it advertised around the £399 price have to really stop myself buying one.

Yeah, I think LBA's setting in, I thought I was cured after the last purchase

I don't think you can screw filters on the 8 16 whereas you can with the 10 20 if this matters.
That's true, not that I use a filter much.

Hi Will,

We've a circus in town tomorrow, if I get chance I'll go shoot a few frames with the 2 lenses and post some results. I've always really liked the 10-20 myself and seem to have a good sample, I'd hate to replace it with something not as good

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the response, the answer to #1 well, I don't really know but the last time I needed something wider than 16mm it was the 10-20 that got the nod. I've not used the DA-15 that much to be honest but it would be nice in a lightweight kit with say the FA-35/2 and DA-70 Ltd.

#2 I quite often shoot at 10mm but I don;t really find it restricting, at least not yet, whether I would gain anything by having 8mm remains to be seen. I do occasionally use the Samyang 8mm Fisheye, but more for creative shots than needing the wide angle.

I think I need to give this more thought TBH, maybe take the two lenses out together, shoot the 10-20 @ 14mm and compare results. The DA-15 seems to have lovely colour fidelity and very high contrast, I'm not sure the Sigma will match that.

An excellent set, especially considering the circumstances.

I won't disclose the OP offer but it was a very fair price.

Just trying to gauge opinions on the Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6, does anyone have one? Sample images perhaps? I already have the Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 which I think is a great lens, it goes out with the DA*16-50 from time to time in case I need the extra wide angle. I'm trying to rationalise my kit, thinking of selling the DA-15 Ltd and 10-20 and replacing them with the 8-16.

TIA,

John
