If you'll forgive em I would expect the image to be way sharper than this. It could be that in PP and resizing it's lost some sharpness but I find the 10-20 to be very sharp.

I hope it was set at 10mm

10mm @ f/9, I would expect it to be a lot sharper too, IMHO if you'd focused somewhere mid ship the DoF would have taken care of it. I imagine it was AF and focused on the bow?

Doug isn't there a way to hook the EEPROM directly to a computer and force firmware on to it, I thought you had special adapters for that but I can be so wrong since I know very little about this.
Someone, somewhere on the web will know how, it's just finding the info.

The 8mm is a 180MM degree fisheye for aps-c. I'm guessing you'd end up with a circular image on film.
There's an article on shaving the hood for Canon full frame:

Hi Dan

Thanks for the comment, I know what you mean by spoilt by lenses I thought I'd take a chance and clicked the Buy it Now button the other night, but for some reason Paypal is refusing to pay for it and I've had no contact from the seller. I even tried paying manually from my Paypal account, but no Ebay items showing for payment So I guess I'm just waiting.

John

There have been several threads about the 85mm with those who own it, singing its praises on performance. Now it's in a magazine, it must be true

There's an online review of the lens on Canon full frame DSLR here:

Not a bad showing considering what it's up against:

Hi Ken,

Absolutely, some telephotos would black out half of the split image etc IIRC the split image was for lenses f/2.8 or faster. Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page gives some details:

Hi Ken

"What I want is an accurate focus screen that makes it very easy to see my plane of focus. I don't care how dim the screen is"

I find it much better to focus on a bright high contrast screen personally, maybe it's just me. We have a Nikon D3000 at work, not my choice, it's totally hopeless to manual focus with because the screen/viewfinder image is so dark. Maybe some original MX owners would like to comment on viefinder quality.

John

So am I to believe I'm better off with a used K20D than a new K7? Or should I stick with my reliable K100D Super

I think if you've never owned the K20D the K-7 would be a fine choice especially coming from a K100D, I prefer the bigger more rounded profile of the K20D, but at the end of the day it's a personal choice.

It only gives a dim image with slow lenses, the max aperture determines viewfinder brightness at the end of the day.
