Unfortunately I can't access Ebay from work, I've been looking for a prime to replace my Sigma 16mm/2.8 FE for some time but for digital. Reviews seen very positive, particularly @ f/8, well built, focuses in the correct direction oh and it's relatively affordable

John

Hi Peter,

That was an interesting collection you had, did you have a purge?

John

I've had a purge of most of my zooms, leaving just the DA* and the two EXs. Most went to fund the FA31 and 77 purchases, the 24-90 was replaced by the FA 135.

Hi Peter

Sounds like a very positive thing to me, I'd love an FA31 ltd if funds permit one day, I had the hard decision to make between the DA70 and FA77 but the DA got it by a whisker, having said that if I were a portrait shooter it would have gone the other way. Currently looking for something longer than 300mm, a DA*400/5.6 would be nice if they ever get around to making one
The FA31 and DA15 remain on my wishlist as a permanent feature

Best regards,

John

I'm thinking of this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350350319173&ssPageName=STR...

Shouldn't pay inport duty from Poland, or am I mistaken?

You don't pay import duty within the EU.

I had a play with one up at London Camera Exchange back in January, it was okay, not stellar performance, but if it's something you're after I'd say it's fairly priced.

K-3, a macro lens and a DA*300mm...

Hi Daniel

what didn't you like?

I can live with manual focus and stop down metering, I still have K series primes. Shooting at F5.6 - f/11 will probably be the norm on such a lens for me. There's some very positive reviews, in fact I can't find a bad one The build quality sounds very impressive too. CA and purple fringing beter than average for a fisheye, I shoot RAW so no problems there.

John

The "A" setting on the aperture ring would be a nice bonus if there's ever an update

The Polish price is roughly £212.

The way exchange rates are at the moment it's not the bargain it would have been three years ago, still it's a saving of £30 or so.

As for the 'A' setting, when it's such an old mount why don't lens makes use it as a standard?

Just penny pinching I suppose.

Looking forward to seeing some shots if you get the lens John.

I don't know, but at a guess I'd say it's a lot easier to make a cheap lens in all mounts if you ignore electric contacts of any kind. A dumb lens is always the same, just with a different mount plate. An electric lens would need indexy whatsits to pick up the necessary information for each type of mount.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help
