The (now discontinued) Tamron 1.4x TC is pretty good and fetches a good price. The Pz-AF Teleplus (Kenko) 1.5x, 1.7x and 2x 7 element are the best available at present if you want SDM compatibility.

Update: I've bought a second Pz-AF 2x teleplus MC7 to replace the one I sold and found that it doesn't work with SDM lenses, I'm sure the other one I had worked with the DA*200. So the ones I know are working are:

TAMRON-F AF TELE-CONVERTER 1.4X Pz-AF MC4
Pz-AF 1.5x TELEPLUS SHQ (KENKO)
Pz-AF 1.7x TELEPLUS SHQ

RSA (residual spherical aberration)Is quite common on older Nikon and Canon AF lenses, I've never seen it reported on Pentax lenses but I wouldn't rule it out altogether.

I fill the 24mm and 28mm slots with decent Vivitar primes. I don't care that they are manual focus, but I imagine much of the market would. Maybe I should be keeping my eye out for an FA 135/2.8.
Or maybe a K 135/2.5?

I've already stated in another thread that to anyone doing nature photography FF offers no advantage, unless you can get as close as you want too. If you have say a 400mm lens you will need to buy a 600mm lens to get the same shots......... but if your going to buy a 600mm lens you might as well use it on the APS-C and completely fill the smaller frame anyway.
If the pixel density is as high on full frame 24x36mm as that on the APS-C sensor then you would have the same enlargement/crop capability, hence Canon with their 20+ Megapixel DSLR's.

Hi John, this is a good discussion to have. Nice to get your potted history of focal lengths! One day I have to get a "swinging sixties" fisheye. Never wanted one before now, but that phrase has done it!

The lenses I suggested are not necessarily because I would want them (though I might) but because they are gaps in the existing line-up. I try not to be too self-centred on matters like this... just enough to be interesting! To that end, here's a list of the prime focal lengths Pentax makes available:

14mm
15mm
21mm
31mm
35mm
35mm macro
40mm
43mm
50mm
50mm macro
55mm
70mm
77mm
100mm macro
200mm
300mm

Where are the gaps? Taking into account that field of view is not linear with focal length, between 21mm and 31mm and between 100mm and 200mm are ill-served. Plus longer focal lengths than 300mm, though Pentax tried offering one of those and no-one wanted it.
A 24mm, 28mm and 135mm would fit in nicely there. At the moment they're filled in my lens kit by Sigma 24/2.8, FA 28/2.8 and FA 135.2.8

I'd like a DA10 limited, and a DA8 fisheye limited.

(And a lottery win to pay for them..)

Cheers,

You could have a Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye without the lottery win, approx £220

Well I still regularly use a Signa 24/2.8 and love it. A DA 24/2 Ltd would be a fine addition to the Pentax range as would the 28/2 or faster 1.8, I can see a 135 lens being popular too I still use my FA 135/2.8 from time to time. What I'd really like to see would be a DA*100-400/5.6 with IQ to rival the C***n 100-400L in other words a longer version of the DA*60-250/4

The 28-80 Powerzoom was not that well built IMHO, but the 28-105 Powerzoom was very well regarded, they come up quite often on Ebay for reasonable prices.
