live view is slower than using regular af...
that the af works that fast in live view is a good indicator that af in video will work...perhaps a firmware update or maybe when it ships...
It also depends what lens they were using.
The 40mm is a very fast focusing lens anyway so if they were using that for the test I would be a lot less impressed than if they used something like the 16-50mm.
Were they not using the 18-135 lens then?

believe it...it is fast...
So I expect this one will be under the tree for Christmas or perhaps in a basket for Easter.... if I bug the wife enough about it I may even get one hurled at my head... who knows...

a solid upgrade from the k10 in every respect....
I've studied the video in the link a few times, is AF normally slower in Live View?

(I never use LV BTW)

Why is that a bad thing?

More choice is always better but I honestly don't think the AF system on the K-5 is going to be a patch on Nikons offering.

I would love to be proved wrong though.
Me too.

It was made in AF as well, I have one, but they're harder to find:

Not only are they not weathersealed, but their silver finish rubs off as soon as you take them anywhere there might be "weather"

I've always assumed that if you took good photos of the item/product you're selling and it looks like you know what you're doing with a camera, then people are more likely to assume you know what you're talking about when selling a camera or lens Or is it just me making assumptions

I'm at work and the link's not working, slow connection. If it's the new lens that's responsible for the speed increase I'll be saving my money for SDM MkII lenses

early reports have it being a contender for the title "Fastest af in an aps- body"
Well I'll believe that when I see it and I wonder how much is down to the new lens
