I use both Lightroom and Elements (my version is 6!). I tend to use Lightroom mostly nowadays but there are times when I need to go into Elements like when I need layers for example.
I would say that if you find yourself processing lots of shots then Lightroom is better but for the odd shot maybe Elements would suit you better and as this is similar to Picassa you might find it easier to use at first.
Getting a good book to go with your version of the software would be a big help for you too for example I brought Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Maximum Performance by Mark Galer and learnt loads from it - or of course go on youtube for tutorial videos .

Rather than spend a whole lot of money, why not give a K-5 II/IIs and the 560mm a whirl

Any one had any problems since updating this latest software update? My K30 has locked up a couple of times when using live view with a manual lens - didn't do that before.

Received my K30 from SRS today - great service from SRS - great camera from Pentax - both recommended!

I'm still using my 5 year old K100d Super. I did buy a KR and used it for a while giving the K100d to my daughter. Unfortunately not long after she accidently knocked it over when it was on a tripod and while it was in for repair I let her have the KR - she still has it and I use the K100d!! I thought the KR was an excellent camera and love the quality of the shots my daughter takes. I still love the K100d and knock out some ok A3's but must say the K30 at it's price at the moment is so tempting!!!

I have a k100d super and have had exactly the same problem recently. My newest set of regular NiMH were about 15 months old and have been great up to now but recently started to run down quickly. I've brought a set Eneloops and everything is great again - the batteries were already charged and they are very reasonable from such as Amazon.

Hi.Yes live view is a big help. Best when using a tripod maybe but live view lets you zoom in so you can tweak the focus and get it spot on.

Question: Does fitting a split screen prism affect the autofocus? If not, is it very hard to fit?
No, it does not affect autofocus. The main downside is that it does affect metering. Spot metering will no longer be accurate - possibly a couple of stops out.

It is not at all hard to do, unless your hands are shaky - in which case it's impossible.

Andrew
Ditto what Andrew says - mine is only a cheap Chinese screen but I find it helps loads (complete with confirmation of the green af hexagon/bleep )with manual lens.

I've got several Scott Kelby books and I must say I normally like his style of writing - I have his Lightroom 4 book and though it is ok I don't feel I've learnt as much as I would have liked from it. I find myself thinking about buying something else now - maybe the Martin Evening book - problem is these books aren't cheap!
