I suspect limited edition camera body, or an evolution of an existing camera. Maybe a 645J to reinvigorate the 645 line?

If the image is not a red-herring then I don't think it's a lens.

Nigel Atherton clearly has his heart set on MILC - whichever brand is flavour of the month.

Damien Demolder, on the other hand, was keen on Pentax IIRC.

I remember once going into a newsagent in Denbigh asking for an AP (or an OP), it was run by two old biddies before it eventually closed for good. I looked and there was none there and got a filthy look when I asked.... but when I glanced at the top shelf it was truly lined up with filth....

Now please up the Tamron lens Womble.

Sale agreed on the 35-70 (Malley).... thanks for your help here

I wasn't going to drop the price any further as it's a nice compact lens as you mention - just that I have the 24-70/2.8 (plus the equivalent Nikkor and the 24-120/4) so it's one or the other...

I don't it would matter much if it was FD or FDp - the switch was still difficult to operate with the FDp grip... I think I last operated the switch when I bought my Z-1p in 1995. I paid about £55-60 for my grip around the same time I bought the camera as I have big hands and cannot use the camera without it.

Oddly enough, it was never a problem with my old Z-1 (no grip attached), I could hold that one ok.

Apart from testing it out, and proving that it does actually make for sharper images, I have never used it again because the slight increase in quality is one for pixel-peepers. But if you need it, then there it is.
How large were the files from PS'd images? if they are 96MP plus files then it will be beyond a lot of older or poorly equipped computers to process the images. My i3 PC struggles with images from the K-1 and D810, but didn't for the K-3. If it struggles with 36MP, especially when I use Nik plug-ins such as Silver EfexPro2, i dread to think how long it would take to edit an image that is generated through pixel shift.

I think the Mk2 had Pixel shift as well?

In terms of pop up flash - I rarely used mine so that wouldn't be a glaring omission in my view.

The deal breakers/ makers for me are what has led to the demise of Pentax as a “professional tool“;

AF Speed
Tracking capability
Buffering

If these serious weaknesses are improved to match even the modest Nikon D500, Pentax can reposition itself in the market particularly with action and wild life photographers.

The three issues must all be treated as one problem; they must all be resolved together In the new APSc

I still think Pentax glass is nothing short of superb as is the rugged build quality which is second to none (£ for £) but the brand will never regain It’s position of many decades, as a market leader until these three fundamental performance weaknesses are eliminated.
Can't compare the K-3 with the D500, I don't think any APS-c camera can match the D500 to be honest. When the K-3 came out the Nikon equivalent was the D7100 - and if you want to criticise the buffer of the K-3 you've probably never used the D7100 or D7200, the most the D7100 could manage was 5 RAW + JPEG. I would go to airshows with my D7100 and D3, and before you know it the buffers were full. The K-3 might've taken longer to acquire focus but when I did I was able to capture much longer bursts. The current top prosumer DX Nikon, the D7500, has a better buffer than the predecessors but at the expense of SD card slots (it takes 1 only) - to get the best out of the D500 you need the expensive XQD and UHS-II SD cards. My only 'fast' camera now is the D500, why did I buy it? D5 AF system and and the 200 shot buffer. The D7100 went long before I sold the K-3.

In a market that is 1/10 of the size it was when the K-5 came out, K-new will be very niche and probably sold in pretty low numbers which will hardly trouble Ricoh, but will probably be more dominant given that CaNikony are more or less abandoning the enthusiast DSLR/DSLT in favour of MILC

My K-1 has the screen, it's nice but I don't use it a lot, my D500 has a tilting screen - I hardly use it and when I pick up the D810 I don't think to myself would't it be nice if it had a tilting screen.

Not a dealbreaker for me.

Somebody bought it....

That's what SRS gave me in P'Ex against the 70-200, I had some chancers offering me low offers but when it was advertised at £550 it got snapped up very quickly...

Super lens it is, £550 is cheap but the used market is so fickle.
