Does it really matter, Use the lowest Iso rating if possible, If not use a higher one.
I use up to 25600 . So It looks a bit grainy. But i have the photo I was after. Sometimes a bit grain looks quite good.
However If you are really worried about a to high Iso rating, or worried the in between are noisier, just use a tripod and set it to the lowest rating you feel comfortable with .

To me , it matters more what is on the picture than a bit of noise.
The picture below was taken with an iso rating of 12800.
I don't think it looses anything because of a bit of noise.

I am not so sure if it is a problem at any speed. But it makes me feel better.

Thanks for that. I will try it.
I still think, Pentax is slack by not incorporating a sliding cover instead of a completely useless and thoughtless plastic push on cover.

Good idea with the mirror up feature. thanks for that.

The viewfinder problem, i encountered a few times.. I like fiddling around with pin hole lenses.
This means exposure times , Even in bright sun often of 1-10sec .

When one buys a Pentax Camera, a little completely useless small plastic push on cover comes with it.

To fit it, If you can find it in your gadget bag, or remember where you left it, or worth, it got lost, you have to remove the rubber eye cover first and then slide the thing on. in the meantime you drop the eye cover in the sand or it falls down a cliff.

If the Pentax designer would not just sit on front of their computers, but actually use the cameras in a real live situation, they would have fitted a sliding cover. This has been done on other cameras before.

When shooting from a tripod and having to use a long exposure time. Somewhere between 1/30 and 2 seconds, the exposure can be completely vibration free, by using the self timer.
The self timer lifts the mirror as soon as the release button is pressed and keeps it up until the exposure is finished.

But did you know, this happens only with the 2 second setting? The 12 second setting does not rise the mirror from the start, but it works just like a normal exposure.

What an ugly camera. maybe the future K11 will have a less cluttered look.

All I want is a K5 with FF.

I have dropped my K5 now 3 times. it still works as good as original. it dropped twice on to concrete and once on to gravel.
It has some scrape marks on the bottom, but no dents.
when i dropped it the first time, my favorite SMC-F 35-70 lens got damaged. The focusing mechanism wouldn't work anymore. But the camera was ok.

I bought a new F35-70 from Ebay for 60 Bucks. and all is back to normal.

It shows, hoe sturdy and well made the K5 is.

the advantage with the marks and scratches is: I now look like a professional.
