I bought a Asahi-Kogaku 50mm f3.5 lens from Japan. It arrived after 4 days in Melbourne.
I already had a 37-42mm adapter ring and fitted the M42 to K adapter together with a rubber O-Ring to keep the light out.
The lens is a 4 element Tessar copy and the Pictures are very sharp. This is another of my vintage lenses.
It does make great pictures.

Hi David, the Tair 300mm is a really good lens. It shows with the superb pictures you made with
it I bought one for about $AU50.- a few years ago and it also gives great images. I don't use it as much as I should, because of it weight and size. Make sure you keep this lens.
You mention that it maybe made for B&W film. I don't think when a lens, no matter how old it is , as long as it is good corrected it makes no difference what type of film is used. If it is not well corrected it also shows up on B&W.
I often use a 110 year old uncoated Rapid Rectilinear Baush & Lomb lens and as long as I use a lens hood, it makes really outstanding pictures. In fact, I think the lack of a coating brings out the colours more like the original. The picture you see has been made with this lens at about f11.

To the management.
A few times I complained that the end of the weekly competitions arrive here in Australia with the end date 1 day before I receive the email.
There has to be something seriously wrong.
Today's arrived at the 20th with the end date of the 19th.
This happens quite regularly. Why? Don't you like to get entries from Australia? Or is it just a joke?
Or maybe you are just not very bright?

Of course you are right, It possibly has to do with the size and weight, but technically, the smaller the sensor, the less expensive. the larger the sensor the better the quality,
Even if all the sensors no matter what size, had the same amount of pixels, the larger sensor still has a better picture quality. (lower noise better ISO rating ) assuming the where all manufactured to the same technical advances rating.

Well, there is only one reason for a crop sensor, it makes it cheaper.
It has no advantage whatsoever except price. It does not increase the focal length of a lens.
If you have a full frame sensor and post process it to about 2/3 of its size, you have the same effect.
Say you have a 300mm lens and the aps sensor the makes it look like 450mm you have the amount of pixels your sensor gives you, Say 16MP or 23. If you have a full frame sensor and use a 450mm lens you have the 40 odd MP. A much better picture.
If it was.t so, you could reduce the size of the sensor to 1 Pixel and get a 16km or so lens, but not much of an image.

Well, It was quite a few years ago with my Super-A. I had the A-50mm f1.4 mounted.
Coming up the stairs from a subway station i tripped and fell flat pn to my favce. this didn;t worry me , howeve the camera hit the concret at an angle that the lens hot first,
But, I had a lens hood and this definitely saved the front of the lens.
Everything was OK , except the lens hood and my Ego.

I am not sure if the current Olympus are the original manufacturers

I have been a Pentax user since the 1970;s. I still use Pentax and nothing else.
I have a now a K5 and a K5IIs and a VS20 plus a bunch of Pentax lenses.
Never use my phone for picture taking.
I am 77 years old and could not give a hoot if any of the camera manufacturer go bust or not.
All my pictures, and there are may, are on my computer, they look better than any prints, because of the back lighting of the screens.
If any of my cameras go faulty and I can not get them repaired , I go tho Ebay and buy another Pentax. There are many for sale and will be for a long time to come.

I too like soft images when Photographing flowers, My wife calls them weeds, I call them beautiful.
They are taken in my backyard.
The first one, the bell flowers Where taken with my K5II with a 1910 Rapid rectilinear lens mounted on
to bellows. At f7.7 180mm 1/90 sec
The second some yellow flowers with the Pentax-F 35-70 at f4.5 1/90sec

Flowers in my opinion are like portraits of females . They look better soft and not to
harsh.

I found on Ebay a 110year old Baush & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear 180mm f8. I cleaned it and mounted it on to my K5.
I was amazed at the accuracy of the colors and the sharpness of this lens
