There's also rarity to take into account - there seem (to me) to be a lot more M series lenses out there than their K counterparts so there's probably a certain collectors' value.

I've mentioned this before when the idea's been mooted (but not for a while so I'll repeat myself):

I'm generally against the idea of a wiki (or similar) as it makes answers *too* easy to find and therefore discourages newcomers from asking questions and joining in. I believe that forums should be alive with discussion rather than reference pages - if we get the same question a hundred times over then so be it.

Quite often I've noticed User A joining the forum and asking XYZ, then a few weeks down the line User B will join, ask the same question, and User A will be the one who provides the answer. I rather like that!

Plus, as Pete mentions above, sometimes an old question is asked in a new way and little nuggets come to light that wouldn't have otherwise been considered.

Just my opinion anyway...

They don't come up on eBay very often and when they do they tend to fetch quite high prices - even with a small scratch I'd expect at least £400. I wouldn't pay that for one personally but that's supply and demand for you...

Wait until womble reads this thread - he's probably got some previous sales logged in his database.

If he is a dealer then I think you could rule out the binoculars being a pair of Binoctems or that little black camera in the middle being a Hexar - he'd know the value of them well enough.

I'm still very interested in the other stuff though!

I'd certainly be interested in prices, and if you could have a rummage for any German/Russian stuff I may have missed that would also be appreciated.

I too spotted a lot of Kodak stuff but it holds no interest for me and has little value in general (there are exceptions - a Boy Scout Vest Pocket Brownie can fetch anything up to around £400 but needless to say they're not exactly common).

Be careful with Leica gear - there's a lot of fake stuff out there based on Feds and Zorkis...

and i wonder how many work ????
Unlike modern electrical wonders even those that don't work can usually be brought back from the dead with a little patience. And if you spent as much time scouting boot sales, charity shops and auctions for hidden gems as I do then you'd get a pretty good eye for them too!

Then yours is more likely a later badge-engineered Travenar. The early Schacht versions were 100% made in Germany and had a wonderful teutonic build that set them apart from other third-party manufacturers. Unfortunately they were too closely tied in to making lenses for mounts that didn't survive the 60's (Exacta, Praktina, Alpa, etc) and disappeared - the rights to the Travenar name were probably bought by one of the many eastern lens makers, hence yours being a Vivitar / Soligor clone.

Some nice Soligor shots on your Flickr stream btw

Hope you don't mind Jack, I've ringed the bits that would have probably had me parting with cash:

Although I would have been there for hours going through every last camera - much of it I don't recognise while still in the case.

On another scan I just spotted a Werra case... Must. Look. Away.

It depends what prices he was asking - that looks like the stall of a dealer to me so I don't know if you'd have got any bargains...

I spy a Zenit with what looks like an Industar 50 on the front (I always buy any M42 kit), a brown case with "Voigtlander" on it (likewise, anything Voigtlander, Rollei or Zeiss will always come home with me) and some binoculars at the back that look suspiciously like a pair of CZJ Binoctems - I'd had snapped them up for any price under £50.

If he wasn't a dealer then I'd probably have made an offer to take the whole lot off his hands, then split it into bin fodder / charity shop / eBay categories when I got home.

Of the three you listed I'd take the FA80-320 every time - nice lens!
