I'm considering a canon g11, had the g5 and loved it.
do any pentax p&s cameras have dedicated flash hotshoes and synch up to 1/500 or 1/1000? "M" mode? Raw capture?
It's a crying shame really because this I-10 could have been that camera - such a golden opportunity missed!
By the way, before buying a G11 check out the Ricoh GR/GX series - all the features you're after and my three-generations-old GR-D will happily let me sync external flashes up to 1/2000. Proper external manual controls and much less bulk than the Canon too. The sort of thing I was really hoping Pentax would make...

Put the camera in (M)anual mode, adjust the aperture ring on the lens to the desired f stop, press the Green button to let the camera take a reading, fire the shutter - job done!
Don't forget to focus as the camera won't be able to do that for you either. And when you switch it on it'll ask you for a focal length - just scroll to "50" and press OK (this bit's to let the SR mechanism know what length of lens it's compensating for).
By the way, the Green Button has many different hats that it wears depending on which mode the camera is being used in - all of them rather useful!
