I used to look through the computer mags and drool over all the latest plug-ins but I could never justify them. Instead I spent so long learning how to do everything in V5 I couldn't bear the thought of re-learning it all over again.

A big advantage of using an old release is that it absolutely flies on a modern PC. As long as it keeps running on newer OS's I'll keep using it.

So I hear, and I am sure that your bank account is considerable lighter with all the upgrades.

Nope. Stuck on V5 and never seen the need to upgrade further - it does everything I've ever wanted to do (except process RAW files - digital cameras were almost unheard of back then. Still, that's what Pentax Photo Lab's for ).

I'm using IE8 too - hence I'm seeing the same as bforbes. Never mind - no such problems with page 2

It's not just you - same on my screen but I can't see an obvious reason why
Because of the photo
But I can see the whole photo - it's only around 800pix wide on my screen. There's just a huge blank space following it...

I've replied to your PM on this JudithAnn, in summary I'd buy the Pentax Adapter K, the extension tube set and the Helios lens. If you don't already have a telephoto lens then also consider the Soligor 90-230mm zoom (but be aware it's not likely to be all that great).

Good luck!

It may be clever, it's just not very useful
The potential's there though. If the next generation came with a sensor that could take fore/aft movements along its horizontal axis along with a couple more degrees in each of the other directions, suddenly every single lens you put on the camera becomes a tilt/shift lens.

Can't wait!

Excellent judging Hyram and congratulations to Glyn - I think of all the entries the humble lightbulb was probably the most iconic of the lot so the victory was very well deserved.

As for the composition of mine, I actually started with about twice as many items and continually swapped them around (adding one here and taking one away there) until I got this, which I think was around take 57 or so. The only constant between the first and the last was the Lego figure and the paperclip itself. The DB5 was more prominent in some of the early shots but obviously not in the final version - if I'd only known it'd earn me more brownie points...

And the "spotlight" is a cheat - there was no spotlight, I just added that in Photoshop using a feathered layer mask. The fact that nobody noticed means perhaps my PS skills aren't quite as rusty as I thought they were!

Looking forward to the next topic!

apart from the finger prints and the print on the lcd screen

what is so special about this camera

The brown/gold colour scheme and the matching grip/strap (only available as part of the kit). Plus it came pre-loaded with firmware 1.30 unlike the standeard K10D which only ever came with 1.00.

It does look very smart "in the flesh"
