I think the rule of thumb is that the bodies can withstand water being thrown at them (from any angle) but that they can't withstand submersion (as the water would be under pressure). So if you wanted to do underwater shots you'd need a seperate housing, but for standing next to waterfalls and in the pouring rain you should be fine.

I've been shooting quite a bit of (35mm) film these last couple of weeks so I thought I'd post a small selection up for your C&C. These were really taken with the aim of testing equipment rather than to be aesthetically pleasing, but I quite liked the following anyway.

1) Pentax Spotmatic | Takumar 58mm f/2 | Kodak Gold 200

2) Pentax S1a | Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 (early) | Kodak Gold 200

3) Pentax LX | Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 | Ilford Delta 400

4) Pentax LX | Pentax-M 28mm f/2.8 | Kodak Ultra 400

5) Pentax LX | Pentax-M 85mm f/2 | Ilford FP4 Plus

The Ilford films were developed by Ilford, the Kodak films were by SnappySnaps Aylesbury. All scans by me using an Epson V600 and then tidied up (dust spots removed / levels tweaked / resized) in Photoshop.

This week I bought my very own Pentax 645 which will be getting a nice outing tomorrow - I'll post some of the results here if the developing costs don't bankrupt me in the meantime...

As someone who's owned a few Rolleis I have to say their bayonet filters (both the TLR and system camera varieties) are a joy to use - massively over-engineered (like everything Rollei used to make) but deeply satisfying. The down side is that they cost an arm and a leg and they don't do anything a regular screw-in filter won't, hence I'm happy to settle for a little loss of convenience these days in return for large savings in cash and easy availability...

I sold mine on as I wasn't using it enough. It can be quite fun but it never found a permanent place in my camera bag...

FWIW you can't use the hood at 12mm on the DA 12-24 without problems, either - although its not catastrophic :

I've had that same problem with my DA12-24 and, as Jon suggests, it's been where I haven't clicked the hood fully into place - that's why you get wedges in the corners. It's annoyed me to the point where I've stuck a label on my hood with the word "PUSH!!!!!" written on it to remind me to securely lock it before I attempt to shoot anything. Since writing that little reminder the problem has completely cleared.

I rather like it - reminds me of one of those images you used to see in the Sunday Sport claiming to prove Elvis was still alive and working in the Dudley branch of Asda or some such.
