Well, after finding the DFA 100 online for £299.98 from Dixons, I decided to order one now before they sold out. I placed my order on Tuesday and it arrived on Friday. I will probably not yield to temptation and start using it straight way as it was intended for my birthday which isn't until the end of November. However, I've tried a few test shots and I'm more than happy with my purchase.
It's a very good lens indeed - one of my favourites

Just a week ago (last Sunday afternoon to be exact)I was shooting forest landscapes with two friends who ar both ex Leica R owners and who retain the lenses. There followed and interesting conversation about the likelyhood of Leica offering something for them. A Leica 'EVIL' uisng the sensor from the M9 was mentioned with a tangible sense of drool..!! It was suggested that such a system will neve happen since it may be the end of the M models,.....Although I pointed out that many people have forecast the end of hte M over many years but it has not come to pass yet!

........I was standing there thinking 'if only pentax would get it's finger out!!'
Why wait? If they want to use their Leica R lenses on a digital SLR then this company offers adapters for them to be fitted to Pentax, Nikon, Canon, Sony and Sigma cameras. The number of digital camera systems that will accept R lenses is one of the main reasons their second hand prices remain high.

Bodies can vary a lot depending on condition - anything between £20-80 would seem reasonable. The F is slightly more desireable but black cameras (any model) tend to fetch more money, which evens things up. Say about £50-60 each.

SMC Takumars fetch more than Super-Takumars as a rule (see exception below) so I'd say £50 for your SMCT35 and £40 for your S-T35.

The exception mentioned above is for the early version Super-Takumar 50/1.4 (identified by a protruding rear element and the position of the IR mark) which has 8 elements instead of 7 and is quite a bit rarer than the later types. Most Super-Takumars are 7 element as are *all* SMC Takumars.

I'd say around £80-90 for an early Super-Takumar 50/1.4, £40-50 for a later Super-Takumar 50/1.4 and £50-70 for a SMC Takumar 50/1.4. Knock £5-10 off for marks, even if they don't show in pictures.

Finally I'd say around £30-40 for the SMC Takumar 135.

These are all the sorts of prices you might expect on eBay, knock 10% off if selling here (which you'll more than make back by not paying eBay fees). Hope that helps!

There is no UK release date as yet but many expect an announcement to be made at Photokina next week.

Then what's the problem? You've often claimed that you want Pentax to compete with the Canikons of this world so how is that cause helped by you slagging off a lens you've never even seen results from (nobody has), far less used? People can find threads like this through Google and take your words at face value. I have no problem with people criticising things of which they have an intimate knowledge but these sorts of uninformed comments really get my heckles up. I'll stop ranting now though.

Offering a mediocre standard lens after TEN YEARS and hoping for success becasue it's available in 20 colours does NOT hack it!
Fantastic! You must be the very first person to have had a hands-on experience with this lens - care to elaborate in what way it's "mediocre"? Preferably with some examples at various apertures and distances. How sharp are the edges of the frame wide open for example?

BTW, can me have a yawning smiley for all these Pentax-is-doomed-with-no-FF threads?

I'm getting tempted now, my Spotty doesn't need a lick of paint but she may well be getting one soon anyway...

I foresee a visit to Halfords in the near future.

All Pentax D-SLR's with the exception of the K20D and the K-7 (Samsung) have used sensors from Sony.

The one in the K-m was previously used in the K10D and K200D (and Nikon D200, etc).

So there you have it. Apart from the original Ltds (and perhaps the 50mm 1:1.4), no currently available prime lens is going to provide a really noticeable improvement in overall image quality over a good zoom.
Psst, George - try a DA35 and you might be suprised...
