What sort of batteries are you using? Are they rechargeable ones or single-use? Have you checked they actually contain a charge? The more information you give us the better we are able to help you.

Yes it is possible - buy a fast lens (the fastest "new" lens in the lineup is the Pentax FA50/1.4) and use the wider aperture this gives you. 50mm is a good length for this sort of photography anyway and the lens itself is of exceptional quality.

Married bliss is henceforth ensured...

Not personally, but those who have seem to think quite highly of them. One of the better Russian-made lenses by all accounts, however, it's designed to give a fisheye effect on 35mm so the effect on digital is considerably reduced (to the point where it's more of a wide angle with a little barrel distortion).

In summary; good for film buffs - not really very useful for digital capture.

Only just spotted this - it's been a long week and the only thing I've got in mind for tomorrow morning is catching up on some sleep. The NU classic cars (well, some of them) are supposed to be stopping off at Quainton Railway Centre en route to Silverstone so I might pop down there at lunchtime if I'm out of bed...

I got this little beauty for a fiver - mint condition (with handbook), tilt and swivel, hotshoe and PC cord, manual and auto operation, guide number 32 (so just slightly less than the 360). Very happy with it and it triggers the 360 a treat

Will it be any good optically? As Don says, probably not.

Will it be fun? Yeah, could be! A picture doesn't have to be technically perfect to be enjoyable - otherwise people wouldn't use pin-holes, Lensbabies, Lomos, etc...

You can't fire them with the built in P-TTL flash of a DSLR as they'd be triggered by the pre-flash (which you can't turn off). You'd need a "dumb" flash to sit on your camera's hotshoe to act as a trigger - you can get one on eBay for a couple of pounds generally.
