My first mentor

I met Spencer at Croft autodrome in the late 70's. He was a Nikon user and I had a K1000 fitted with a Sigma 200mm/f3.5

He was ever so helpful and always supportive.

Until the arrival of the Internet the only other photographer I'd spoken to was my Dad. As mentors go at least he was easy to get hold of...

It's wonder I did not see you there.

My mentor was my dad and it's his legacy of K mount lenses that got me into Pentax.

And my mentor was also my dad, with his love of Russian rangefinder cameras. Still have his Zorki 4.

My one was my Dad who worked for DPA and AP as well as Joseph Beyes, a well known photographer in Düsseldorf/Germany in the early/mid 70's.
Still got my first camera (a Nikon F2 that was bought from my first full wages pus a bonus from Joseph and my Dad. Well looked after and still working well, but I go over to my K-5 now as it is more convenient to edit on the computer and the quality of Digital is by now high enough to compare them in parts with 35mm. At least in my eyes and for what I use it).

My first mentor was the photographer on the excavations at Wroxeter by the name of Sidney Renow. Lovely chap who used Minolta cameras. I was often his unofficial helper on site.
