Sounds like a good idea to me - where's Don when we need him..?

I'm with JR on this - I like the composition of the first cropped shot (no more fire exit, yay!) but I preferred the colouring/tone of the original.

Happy New Year to everyone. Very quiet around here at the moment but I expect that to change as midnight approaches...

Since this thread started back in October, several of us have ordered a DA50-200 (myself included) at various "bargain" prices but has anybody actually received one yet? Do they actually exist or has it all been an elaborate ruse to drive people to the Jessops website?

That's a lovely photo Clarky - looks like the 50mm macro is a winner!

I'm tempted to get a set of bellows - what's the maximum extension on these?

It depends how you phrased the question; you're right (and so are they) that the setting can't be changed in-camera, but the camera can be changed via the flash in its hotshoe.

It's a subtle but important difference...

Not for me - it gives a sense of movement which is all helping towards that feeling of dynamism which I like. If he'd been static then the sparks would have looked unconvincing so it's all good IMO.

I like the shot 'cos the flying sparks make it quite dynamic, I don't think there's anything to the right of the fire that adds to the appeal though. I might be tempted to go for a squarer crop and lose the lot - especially the Fire Exit sign which keeps drawing my eye...

I have to admit the manual for the AF360 is one of the worst technical manuals I've ever owned for any product (and that's quite a few!).

I've pretty much learned by trial and error (and asking on these forums) but it's worth persevering with as the system is quite capable once you get your head around it.
