It hasn't happened to my K10D but I have had peeling coverings on other cameras - a dab of Copydex will normally sort things out easily enough

Shouldn't affect the waterproofing in any way.

Hi Matt and welcome. Kris is right, there's no in-camera method of holding the shutter open but cable releases all tend to come with locks and I can't imagine you'd get useful results in bulb mode without a release anyway.

If you're after something a bit longer than 50mm but don't want the bulk / weight of a zoom then I'd second Peter's suggestion above for the DA70 - I think you'd be very happy with it.

If I did go for a dedicated macro lens (and I am not saying I am:wink wouldn't the obvious choice be the pentax 100mm one compared to the Tamron 90mm? With the £50 cashback from Pentax the prices end up exactly the same, £299. Or am I missing something here?
You'll often hear the phrase (here and elsewhere) that, "There's no such thing as a bad macro lens". This is actually pretty much true as macros always tend to be stunning performers.

So what can differentiate them is the features that they offer and their cost. The Tamron 90 and Sigma 105 are usually a little cheaper than the Pentax DFA100, hence they've been popular choices. The Pentax lens though has the same "Quick-Shift" focus system as your DA16-45 and DA55-300 (which the third party macros lack) and the Pentax is also lighter and more compact, making it easier to use hand-held in the field (and taking up less space in your camera bag).

It was these features that swayed me towards the Pentax lens at a time when it cost about £100 more than the Tamron (my 2nd choice); if the price is now exactly the same then I'd say the decision is a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned!

So the tricky bit is getting the first silver lens in and then the rest comes easy, provided I never lay them visible together or else I will have to play the magician and say that one hatched the other ha .
You're a fast learner!

Even if I managed to snap up images which showed the Mrs like the queen of Sheba with that lens I wouldn't get away with it, haha . I would be jeopardising my whole kit and risking any further purchases. She would start watching all my entrances at home with a hawk eye to see any more gadgetery gets through that door lol.
You start with one, then when she sees the stunning results you use it as a Trojan Horse to sneak others in through the door. All silver lenses look similar to an untrained eye...
