The real killer to your plan though is the 2x cropfactor of the 4/3 system.
This means that pretty much all Pentax lenses will be telephotos (eg 24mm -> 48mm etc)

True enough, but I thought the Oly 17mm pancake would make a good wide/normal, the FA43 a great portrait (circa 85mm equiv) and the FA77 a sublime telephoto (around 150mm equiv). That would do very nicely for a pocket camera

I did actually prefer the look of the pre-production version (very Werra I thought) but this looks great! I'll be interested to see what Samsung come up with regarding their new micro format but this has certainly grabbed my attention!

Anybody else think the new Pen is cool, sexy and very enticing? Reminds me of the Trip, Pen and even the old 110 SLRs.

I'm sure Greytop will be escpecially interested to see what his ex has been up to!
Yes, yes, yes! I envisage one joining me alongside the K-7 as my walkabout camera. Silver with the pancake please!

Of course I'll wait until I see Samsung's rival first, but in the meantime I'm fondling an Olympus Trip and grinning...

Ironically, the older K mount lenses (K and M series) aren't as easy to use on a modern DSLR as the (older still) M42 screw-mount lenses (mainly down to the somewhat erratic metering with the older K mounts - nothing that's insurmountable but they may take a bit of practice).

I have bought and sold many K/M and M42 lenses and the screw-mount versions do tend to hold their value a little better when compared like-for-like. Of course the later K mount lenses (A series onwards) give you more options and tend to fetch quite a bit more money accordingly.

I'm puzzled why you would consider it acceptable to have to spend another wedge of cash on a light meter though.
And I'm puzzled why you would consider it acceptable to have to spend several wedges of cash to get shake reduction in every lens. I guess that makes us even.

Excellent photos Clarky, I also love the colour changes as the Sun rises and sets - some glorious deep reds there!

I don't think I'd have done the climb though; a combination of laziness and a poor head for heights would have held me back...

These are for Hefty, not sure if they are good enough, but these were took with, IIRC, a M 50 1.4, in AV mode. Just whacked it on and fired away.
If those were taken wide open then it looks like the K-7's done an excellent job of metering

Did you try the M50 in video mode too?

The thing is...

SR is one way of doing the same thing as other camera manufacturers, not necessarily a better or worse way.
...you can't buy an aftermarket accessory that will apply shake reduction to *all* your Nikkor lenses (even current production ones), nor can you...

It's slightly lower resolution, granted, but that's academic I think.

The FPS and AF performance of the D300 is well documented, but the metering is superb and rarely wrong footed, and you have 4 easily accessible shooting banks to set the camera up for different scenarios quickly.
...a handheld lightmeter that will make the D300's results look like they were guesstimated by Mr Magoo. I'll grant you the frame rate of the D300 is quicker, but as someone with no interest in rattling off hundreds of shots (and who focusses manually 99% of the time) I'd have to agree with you when you say:

But, these features are only worth it if you need them, and don't forget the D300 costs a lot more...
For me it's no contest; the K20D already wipes the floor with the D300 and the K-7 is just going to bring more pain to Nikon's party.

No, it seems to be phone or fax only: link

You could also try Pentax USA or even Pentax UK, Pentax France, etc. One of them is bound to have the hood you're after but you might have to try contacting a few to find it!

I always find reds the hardest colours to reproduce but I think you've done a good job here, some lovely orange-red-pink tones
