I might take something for the sync snap if I remember nearer the time.

The easiest way to find out is to try it for yourself - you have the head and the monopod so put them together and take them out for the day.

If there's one thing I've learned from these "which combination" threads it's that you'll never get any sort of concensus opinion, one man's meat is another's poison and all that...

Hope it works for you!

I've got a couple of linear polarisers (like the one you're selling but Hoya branded) and they've never had any adverse effects on the AF of my K10D, despite the received wisdom that they're not suitable.

Prospective buyers take note

I'm with you on that hefty, it still isn't certain what the sensor make is, or have I missed something?
I'm not sure there's been any "official" confirmation but I was under the impression it's an open secret that they're using the Sony Exmor sensor as featured in the Sony Alpha 500 / Nikon D90 / Nikon D300...

It's difficult to make any comment on the IQ until we've seen some samples from the camera.

Some may look at results from other cameras employing the same sensor, but until we see how the sensor works in conjunction with the Pentax processing engine any speculation is pretty flawed.

I take comfort in the fact that Pentax seemed to make a better job of extracting information from the Sony 10.2MP CCD sensor compared to Nikon and Sony themselves, I just hope they can repeat that feat with this one.

It never happened - too many technical difficulties to overcome.

The closest we ever got was the Leica digital back for the R8/R9 SLR's - hugely expensive and, as it turned out, rather disappointing; and that was a bespoke model! We're a long way from a universal digital insert but you never know what the future may hold.

I've said this before, I'm not going 'back' to film as I have never entirely left it!

I'm going to watch some motor sport tomorrow (hill climbing) and I've just been packing my camera bag in readiness for an early start.

I've got the K10D in there with the DA12-24 / DA35 / Tamron 70-300 lenses, a Leica Minilux with a fresh roll of Fuji Reala 100, and a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta IV loaded with Ilford Delta 400. A nice mix of digital, 35mm and medium format to use as situations dictate.

I'm not going back to film because I don't think I ever fully left it...

And I agree with George that modern lenses in general are sharper than their film era counterparts.

I wouldn't recommend buying older lenses in the hope that Pentax will be releasing a FF DSLR at any point (they won't), however, I would say they're worthwhile if you intend using them on an old film camera or if you're offered a few cheap and fancy giving them a try. If your only cameras are likely to be the current digital models though there are very few film-era lenses that make a compelling argument for themselves against their DA equivalents.

Oh- I wondered what the difference between black and silver FA lenses??
The silver ones take better pictures. This is due to them not being anodized silver as is widely thought, but rather coated with a very special layer of magic fairy dust - ask any owner
