I haven't voted 'cos I don't own an SDM lens - anyone who can see the results care to give an update on how they're going?

I'm not in the market for an 18-250 or a K20D but I'll be there to fondle a K-x when you get some in

I really like the geometric shapes made by the reflections in this one, and the colours in the sky which look quite film-like.

I'm not so keen on the crop - I think the top and the bottom aren't adding anything to the picture so I'd be (rather predictably for me) tempted to go for a square crop and just keep all the good stuff in the middle.

Olympus did a very small range of M42 mount Zuikos for a brief spell in the 70's and they do appear on eBay from time to time. Being a bit of an Oly fan myself I often look at them when they show up but they always fetch ££££.

I still quite fancy one or two to use on the K10D though...

After a couple of months of ownership (where it's rarely left the camera) I have to agree with everything said in the linked article - I really am struggling to find a weak spot with this lens.

I spent the best part of a year dithering over whether to get this or the FA31 (couldn't really justify both of them) and I'm pretty happy with my final decision. Apart from the extra stop of speed it's hard imagine how the FA31 could be noticeably better. I think in years to come this lens will be regarded as one of the all-time classics.

There should be a health warning on that article - reading it twisted my arm into parting with some hard-earned...

OK I'll bite...

The definition of:

Quote:
Take a picture outdoors from the street. People, buildings, cars and or signs. You may choose one or all of the elements.
...is pretty much word-for-word what I would describe as "street photography", so I'm intrigued to know what definition you guys would give to the genre. What am I missing here?

I notice in the report. Quote "Billed as the only 645MF camera to support both focal plane and leaf shutters". Unquote. This is not quite right. I have the 75mm leaf shutter lens with my Pentax 645. This lens connects electrically with the camera to make the camera shoot at 1/8th. of a second and then shoots at the speed set by the user. (Faster than 1/8th.) Therefore allowing the camera to use flash at up to 500th. of a second. CHEERS Vic.
What they mean Vic (although I agree it's not what they've written) is that it's the only 645MF digital camera to support both focal plane and leaf shutters.

I'm assuming that the Pentax 645D will also offer this feature as there are already existing LS lenses that some folk will want to use on it.

In fact, the more I look at what's available in terms of MF digital the more I'm convinced the Pentax offering will blow most/all of them out of the water - especially if the £6000 price tag is true.

Love the second shot of the red Impreza - nicely captured action there.

Get any more good ones of the MkI Escorts? All four wheels off the ground preferably?

The WPD doesn't really have enough focus (no pun intended!) to interest me - I take shots every day anyway so there's nothing to really inspire me about a date in the same way as if I'm shooting for (for example) one of the competitions here.

The sync snap thing is more interesting (to me) because I'll just make sure I take my camera out on the night in question and I'll point it at whatever happens to be in front of me come midnight - could be fun!
