Ben, I'm sorry if you feel you've been sensored.
As a person who is prone to making "provocitve" comments and jokes, I don't feel I've ever been sensored here. (corrected once or twice, called to explain or defend once or twice, but never had anything flat out deleted).
I read the other threads, and didn't get where you were sensored....
I saw the thread was locked, I get what was meant to curtial people (not you specifically) from brand bashing, which I'd've happily participated in....javascript:emoticon(''), (I own two canons but aside from loving my g5, and indifferent to my pro one, I still hate canon).
was something you said completely deleted? was the thread removed? or just your posts from the thread? or did they simply lock the thread to deter people like me from going tooo far?
I feel like I'm missing something here.
I suppose that after the way you were treated at dpreview that being sensored would be an open wound that you'd rather not have poked at.
Hope you get some answers, that bring you some satisfaction.
I once had a policeman say to me that "All Indians are lazy scumbags that deserve to be lined up and shot", in front of my twin 4 yearold daughters, (I was trying to organize a neighbourhood watch to shut down a local drug house, I am Metis (half objibway, but I look Italian). My daughters had nightmares for months about men with guns coming into our house. I filed a complaint with the RCMP public complaints commision about it. They said it was my word against the word of two officers and did nothing. I was subjected to alot or harrassment in retaliation.
On one occasion I raised my voice at a cop at a local Tim Hortons (who had just made a joke about starving an Indian by hiding his welfare check under a pair of workboots).
I don't hate police officers. I spent thirty-two years of my life without ever having a run-in with the law, and the first time I did have a run-in, I WAS TRYING TO HELP THEM DO THIER JOB!!! I am sure that they are not all like the few I delt with. But I still find it hard, not to react when I hear something, remotely racist, come from somebody wearing the uniform.

the only thing I noticed was some kind of weird mark directly above the hook(to the right of a nailhead in the wall) looks like you had a water drop, or peice of tape on the lens.

i use aperture, and I'm pretty sure it's mac only.
I love it.
I'd say lightroom has the advantage of being cross platform, and therefore more users which translates into more (free) resources/tutorials.
aperture is very tightly integrated with the other mac software, making it ideal for my workflow, which is heavy on the multimedia apps.
I use it with Iwork, Ilife, Automator, Garageband, Applescript, and photoshop cs2.
it has a couple features that lightroom lacks, and is very good at streamling and automating large amounts of images and projects.

Georges argument is good, logical, and strangely familiar.
sounds like the argument serious photographers once had about zoom vs primes.

mongoose hit the nail on the head.
that's what I'm talking about.
still imagery will come from imaging devices that do both...very well.
you wouldn't turn your nose up a a k10 just because it did excellent video, or a video camera because it did great stills.
But most consumers/prosumers will see it as extortion to have to buy two seperate imaging devices, and so the dslr as we know it must perish, giving way to video/still hybrids.

I think dlsrs all across the board are on the endangered species list.
A new generation of video cams that can shoot ultra hi-def video, and rapid bursts of 8-14 megapixel stills, simultaniously, all to solidstate memory, is on the horizon.
The stills vs video debates will rage on, and dedicated still image cameras will lose market share. Any body still debating this issue five years from now, will wind up buying a video camera (hopefully Pentax Badged, with backward compatible k-mount lens mount) that also does stills to replace thier beloved Pentax dslr.
