There is something wrong with this picture

Last week I was working up in Angus, Tayside, Scotland, ( I know some members are from
far-a-field, so I added Scotland ). Didn't get much of a chance to get any pictures. The weather
wasn't great and the light was even worse.
I did take some pictures, but it was more to give the camera excercise, than anything else.
Here is one I took when the sunset over the "Montrose Basin" didn't happen. There is
something wrong with it. 'Brownie' points to first to guess the problem.

Other than the fact that I imagine the whole building is also that awful shade of blue? Yikes!

best I can come up with is the white balance is off, that blue can't be right surely?

Looks like a typical Dundee front door to me

Nothing to do with lack of, or excess of, colour.

The door was actually this very blue colour, it was on a boat shed,
I was leaning against, hoping to get a nice sun-set shot

In that case, your problem is you were looking the wrong way! turn around next time and you'll get much better sunsets.

The latch is on the hinged side of the door.
There is no handle to close the door.
Even if the latch was open, the door wouldn't open.
The door has been painted shut.
The owner wanted a red door.

I give up!

Clue No. 1 ( You might need to look at the full size image )

What parts of the latch are in focus ?

Jeez!! Iwas always hopeless at Give us a Clue.

There is certain lack of shadows given that you were waiting on a sunset, could it be that when you leaned on it it, it fell over?
Cheers
Brian.

the only thing I noticed was some kind of weird mark directly above the hook(to the right of a nailhead in the wall) looks like you had a water drop, or peice of tape on the lens.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

The eye of the hook is in focus, but so also is part of the right hand wall some way beyond the hook.

It is as though the plane of focus is highly convex.

Almost there George.

It's actually 2 pictures

One had the hook end in focus, and the other had the eye end in focus.

I used a 105mm Sigma wide open at f2.8, shallow depth of field, so had
to combine 2 pictures to get both ends of the latch sharp. You can see
the middle of the latch looses focus, this was the give-away.
