I think monitoring vital signs, communicating with other computers, (esp in emergencies) autonomous travel (ie ability to navigate a home/hospital/neighbourhood to help a person carry out routine jobs/activities). robotic lifts/arms to make mobility issues easier to live with) and comunications for family/doctors/careproviders, to monitor (telepresence) the user with the robotic chair. over the net.. Won't put any dogs out of a job....it will just add to what the dog does.....

I don't feel like anybody has tried to diminish me in any way here.
I just hope that through sharing, that the other poster, and those that felt this forum was less than friendly, would not be discouraged, from posting. Even the post that caused some offence, was made by a really nice guy who always tries to help people.....and he apologised....just shows this IS a NICE forum!

I totally admire your devotion to your wife. and I understand why you do it.
At home, with my ex, my autistic son often gets locked in his room, as they find it easier to cope with him that way. He as always left behind, with a sitter.
when he's with me....he goes where I go.
well one time, when we were in Banff, we went hiking up some trails, to the mountian peaks. He decided he didn't like the feel of the soil there (he wouldn't wear shoes). I picked him up and carried him the whole way.
He was ten years old. when his speach got better, he was able to describe in incredible detial every moment, of that hike.... and every other thing we did with him.
ps... is that wheelchair an everest & jennings? looks an awful lot like the doner chair that is now my robot. one day soon those chairs will be intelligent.

actually George it's alot of effort.
I practice everyday, I work from home, on my own schedual.
this forum, is where I can pop in, type a sentacne or three, between photo/video shoots/editing, and meeting family demands.
If I had a regular job, my skills would deteriorate quite quickly, and I'd be back to (possibly) being ridiculed.
Do you remember how bad my notes were a few years back when I first started?

In fact, I find people are very tolerant of me, and I can really test peoples patience.

I also have learning disabilities.
I'm dyslexic.
I have discalculia.
I have a add.
I have been told (when originally tested there was little family background to go on, but now that I have one Autistic son, and one adhd son) I should get retested for Aspbergers.
my brain is wired to see most language and thought issues in black and white, with very little grey.....("Can you pass the salt" gets answered with a "yes", but probably no salt. "Please pass me the salt" gets you handed a saltshaker).
My spelling is bad, my math worse. I repeat myself, and sometimes stutter(not when i'm typing).

I paid a hell of a price for it in school, and wound up homeless and with a gr 8 education, as a teen.

Last thing I'd want is pity. Worst thing is being treated differently.

Welcome!

How about Gerri from Winnipeg, Don? You invent gear and software. Who has the best eye?
Well Mac, Gerri wears contacts.. I don't.
talk about being put on the spot....
kinda like that question we men all hate being asked... "Does this make me look fat?" (the best answer of course is "Kill me. Kill me now. No, REALLY, I WANT TO DIE".... much better than "That outfit has nothing to do with it...It's your a$$ that makes you look fat".

Let's just say even with my best work, I wouldn't be able to feed myself, if it wasn't for Gerri's people skills.......

got a manual focus lens and a locking release cable? snap in focus (see your manual) may fit the bill.

a headphone jack, and any number of switches/relays or cheap battery powered motion detectors can be made to trip the shutter.

you might find a video camera and software (such as Evo Cam on the mac) might be easier to set up....

try three shots, on a tripod, first two in focus third out of focus....(trees,flowers, landscapes etc).

try nine shots of a rock, or tree or other stationary object where you got moving water/grass/clouds filling most of the frame.

try three shots with a red green then blue filter on each shot (stationary shots should come out normal, moving elements (like clouds) will be colored.

actually, it didn't take very long at all.....
I set up on my kitchen table (studio would've been better, but I needed to keep an eye on my little one while he got his last cartoon in,and prepped for bed).

start to finish about one hour.

the actual shot took about 45 sec.

I'm guessing you are asking about the top flower?

So here goes:
tripod mounted camera, 100mm macro, f16, bulb mode, 3200 deg color balance, locking cable release.

2 rechargable flashlights (12 volt halogen).
one flashlight set up with inside a large translucent (white) spaggetti plastic storrage container. sort of set up like a strip light and used at 45 deg camera right for fill (that gave me my base exposure times).

the ohter flashlight was used to backlight, edge and main light by painting.

selective focus done with layers in photoshop.

the background was done in photoshop by manipulating a copy layer from the original layer, and in fact I was practicing a technique (that is better suited for mounting 3 or more images to one background) for making color matching mattes/backgrounds.

the bee was natural light with fill from a ringflash, I bee-lieve .
