One can only imagine the horror and sleepless nights of having a rubbber slip off...but I digress.....had it start to happen on an old mz5 way back when, was hardly noticable and a little rubber cement fixed'er right up.

good one on srs for exchanging that one! chris rocks!

If you look at how devices are designed these days then it is easy to understand why they don't do it.
Sadly for us users the beancounters have the final say in the feature department.
A increase of say €20 for extra built in memory will end up being a €200 price increase easily with all steps in between.

I would like it also to have some extra memory in the camera but then again seeing how long or short SD cards live (personally I haven't had any problems since I switched to Sandisk cards and buy them only from respected dealers). I start wondering how long the internal memory will last.
A memory card failure is one thing but internal memory failure would be a bigger problem to me. I allways carry a couple of extra cards. I use a couple of 4GB SD cards as my main storage and I have a couple of 2GB and 1GB cards as backup as those were the cards I used in my *ist-DS.
In addition I have a 500GB image tank to backup images to.
I will start to replace some memory cards this year as some of them are getting quite old. I see it the same as with VCR tapes, after a while it's better to replcace them instead of waiting them to fail.
I understand that my first memory card, bought to go with my first Pentax dslr, the ds2, still gets used more often than the ds2. There is nothing wrong with the ds2, but the k10's are better for most uses.

It costs more to develop microchips than it costs to mass produce them. That is why computers often go up in processor power, memory, and storage every upgrade, but the prices keep falling. Are Cameras different than computers these days? not really that different, I think.

actually the camera already has internal memory... called a buffer.

No reason they can't increase that to hold a few hundred images, and write to a card or transmit via usb or wifii on demand. (i know volatile vs non volatile memory.... I think that can be fixed in a new design, if the manufacturer wants to...)
newer harddrives are going solid state.....

U R Welcome!
another good use for two polarizers is to put one on your flash and the other on your lens...
then you can "Dial out" glare off reflective surfaces (not chrome or mirrors) or oily skin and esp dark colored skin.

Recession, what recession?

I think of it as saving my children from wasting their inheritance on unnecessary items that they probably wouldn't use. I can do that just as easily as they can.
Right abouts now, I'd say some people would be better off pulling all thier investments out of the markets and trying the Casinos....about the same risks and rewards, but alot more entertainment, and usually a free buffet...

I think you mean neutral density. Using 2 polarizers in this way will cost you about 2 f-stops, if not more.

What exactly is the point? Why not just underexpose if you want to lower the overall brightness of the scene?
shallower dof and or slower shutterspeeds....

I often need both a polarizer and a ndgrad for outdoor portraits...
ie getting shallower dof and a slow enough shutter speed for flash in a park setting...

I do it all the time. (fall shots with my varicolor polarizers and regular polarizers....and sometimes with two regular polarizers for fun)

two catches:
A) cheap polarizers (one should be linear instead of circular) can cause a dramatic and sometimes uneven color cast (usually purple).
B) two layers of glass = two times the number of surfaces between your lens and your subject... twice the chances of dust, flare, and image quality loss etc...

so buy good filters and really get the graduated nd's at least...

@Don - ouch Yes, I can see that happening
That's one of the reasons I cycle three cards, only formatting when the oldest card has just been put in the camera. I always check the images on the card before previewing and make a mental check whether I've actually doubly-backed them up.
Matt
three of everything here...memory cards, cameras and lenses, shoe flash, studio strobes and hotlights....
but add some stress, try to rush, and one miscomunication....bam, you just formatted a card that should be in the camera bag....

not just format, but wrote over....
