Pictures are great. I like the idea of the set, many moods. You were lucky with the weather then, 4 out of 7 is good!

I can understand the problem with the Gaelic, I've been struggling for years and my computer spell checker is no better!

I think David is thinking of a different place though, Sgurr Dhomhnuill is north of Loch Linnhe in Ardgour, north west of the Corran Ferry and is a Corbett. Beinn a' Bheithir is due south of Ballachulish, on the south side of Loch Linnhe and has two Munro's. I still have trouble with the pronunciation though!

It is just good manners to thank the seller and tell the rest of the forum that you had a happy transaction, when the item arrives. It also helps to build confidence in you and the other party, across the forum.

On the bank transfer, I don't like putting my bank details over a non secure Internet route, even PM on here. I always ask for a phone number and offer mine by PM. As with a cheque, I know who has had my bank details and it has not been broadcast to the planet. The other plus is you usually have a pleasant conversation with the other forum member!

As an afterthought I wouldn't mind betting that Pentax users are the biggest users of Tamron Adaptall lenses, which are after all available to everyone.
I think you'll find some of the other brands can't use Adaptall lenses for the same reason they can't use their own brand old lenses, no backward mount compatibility.

The Pentax users are just used to using old glass! I even have an adapter to use my Asahiflex lenses on my DSLR! Surprisingly good too!

Funny, your initial sketch could have been written for me, even down to the Skoda!
I had the same thoughts when I bought my first DSLR, body image stabilisation, use the old lenses, weather resistant etc.

Do I use other cameras, not much. Play about with an old MPP 4x5 occasionally but I don't think that is really relevant. The only other cameras I generally use for taking pictures are film Pentax of various vintages.

I have picked up some of the competition in shops or friends cameras and to be honest they don't seem to fit me. I guess the layout and handling just are not what I'm used to. I'm sure I would get used to it in time but both the K10 and the K5 just felt right very quickly.

I guess I'm happy with the DSLR I have. I guess I'm happy with the Skoda as well. I'm certainly happy that I can get 70 mpg. The Pentax is different in that I have a large investment in lens and other stuff to go with the camera now but I really don't believe any other camera brand would offer me anything that would really help me in my picture making. I'm still learning what the K5 can do and I'm certainly still learning, and hope to go on learning, how to make those pictures. The camera is only the tool but I am happy with the Pentax tool.

I think you should be able to use either alkaline or Silver oxide cells. The voltage is the same, the silver oxide generally last longer. Certainly, mine seems ok with alkaline cells.

Try giving the terminals a clean and also clean the cells, avoiding finger contact. Also make sure the battery compartment door is closed properly, can be a bit tricky on this camera.
You could also try exercising the mode/speed dial a bit to give the contacts a clean. Switch between automatic and the manual speeds a few times.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thanks for the reply.

I have thought of buying some of them myself but some I already have and also I wanted to offer a fair price. They are not mine and I will be paying for them. The money will be going to my friends sister.

Which hood interested you Kris?

I have a friend whose brother in law died recently. He has asked me to dispose of his camera kit so I thought I would ask here for some advice.
I think he would rather the kit went to a good home where it would be used, more important than any money, but at the same time they obviously has some value.
Could anyone suggest prices for the following items and if anyone is interested please PM me.

Cosmetically very good. Meter is working, shutter operates fine on all speeds. Self timer fine.
There is a problem with the prism, I think the surface mirroring is faulty in places. You can focus ok but the view is not what it should be.
As the rest is good it would be worth changing the prism if you know how to.

Cosmetically very good all over except a slight dink on the top of the prism. If you put a flash shoe on you would not see it.
Good working camera in good condition apart from the small dink.

Good cosmetically, selftimer and shutter works ok most of the time.
Sometimes shutter second curtain stops short of full travel. If you know how to fix this it would be a nice camera.
There is a high top ever ready case and a non-working square meter, cased.

I'd be grateful for any selling advise, pricing suggestions you could offer.
