The da16-85 has the same DC autofocus motor that is used in the 18-135 lens.

I have had the 18-135mm lens for several years, tramping over the mountains. It has worked faultlessly in rain, snow, hot and cold temperatures. The 18-135 has been around since 2011 and I have not heard of any autofocus problems, unlike the 16-50!

The DC motor seems to be an improvement on the older SDM motors, both in terms of reliability and speed of focusing.

Thanks for the link.
I hadn,'t seen wet plate process done before but I think I'll probably stick to film!

If I'm honest, digital is still my main medium but you don't need power for this!

On my household policy there is a separate section for items taken out of the home. I pay extra but it is one of the cheapest ways to cover you camera gear.

You need to check your policy wording as each policy will have different details, some may require items to be listed over a certain value.

Used my K10 and K5 at much lower temperatures than -6c and have yet to have any problems.
This was with both original and non-Pentax batteries and I'm mean so I don't spend more than needed. I don't think the construction will make much difference as far as cold is concerned, It's the chemistry that affects cold performance.

I believe lithium batteries are inherently better performers at low temperatures than other cells. I also used to use lithium batteries in my SuperA for that reason. Didn't have cold weather problems with that either!

My first, I can't remember but the first one I did photography with was a Kodak Instamatic 24. After the first colour film, it was mainly used with B&W film developed at home and printed at school.

The next was a Zenit E and followed by a Cosina CSM. First Pentax was a Super A, when an insurance paid out!

Still have the Super A but have a lot of other Pentax cameras now.

I like the composition and the light.
Big sky is a feature of Portsmouth harbour, this has captured the feel of the place to me.

I think you'll find the level is spot on. I wondered about the horizon but all the masts are right and the water is level. The hill to the left, in the distance, just fools the eye.

Just looked up and the temperatures vary between +9 & -7 in November. Shouldn't cause any problems for a Pentax!

I've had both my K5 and K10 out all day in Scotland in temperatures like those and not had any problems. I usually carry the camera in a CCS holster and take it out to shoot. This offers some physical protection.
Lithium batteries are much better at dealing with the cold but it can be worth having a spare in your pocket.

As John says, if you don't take the camera you won't get the picture!

Your problem is due to the AF280t is a TTL flash and not a PTTL one.

Your camera and AF360FGZ use PTTL, so work together fine so long as the flash is set to use PTTL. In PTTL the camera controls the remote flash using light signals from the camera flash. This preflash sends information to the remote flash before taking the picture, then the main AF360 flash fires, being controlled by the camera meter.
The AF280 uses the TTL system, designed for older film cameras. It will not work with the K7 in TTL mode. You can use it if you set it to automatic mode, where the camera does not control the flash. The it uses it's own photo cell, but you will need to either have it on the hot shoe or use cable or radio control to fire it. You can also use it in manual mode.
When you use the AF280 with the AF360 , the preflash signaling will set off the slave cell on the AF280 flash before the camera is ready and will probably interfere with the signal to the AF360. The AF280 cannot be controlled by the camera meter at all and using the two flashes together will cause problems.
