A good strategy and good advice. So many times in the past I waited with eager anticipation to collect my prints or for the arrival of my processed Kodachrome slides (Who remembers Kodachrome 25 & 64 or Ektachrome?) only to end up feeling very disappointed with the results and consigning them to storage to be forgotten. When I think back I'm not sure now of what It was exactly that I was expecting, but that was thirty, forty years ago and long longer. But oh boy has time improved what I see when I revisit those old photographs now. That old storage has become a veritable treasure trove. It's just the same with my digital images that can seem to improve noticeably in only a few weeks or months. How many of us are guilty of looking but failing to see? Looking and seeing are like the two faces of a coin and I believe that learning to see is the key to discovering the meaning! As 'laurencia' has learned, photographs whether on film or digital mature remarkably well so don't be too hasty in consigning your disappointments to the bin.

When I look at certain photographers and photographs, I often pause on some images that would not be technical masterpieces but yet they intrigue and hold one in wonder.
A moment in time that will never repeat, no matter whom try to replicate.
So often it's not so much the photographer taking the photograph but the subject making the photograph that allows us to connect with it warts and all.

For anyone contemplating the purchase of this camera I would like to add what a superb piece of engineering it is. I purchased one of these beauties new and in my heart it will always remain as my most cherished camera. Sadly I very stupidly sold it on whim here a few years ago. In fact it was worse than that, I had it CLA'd and then sold it a few short months after for the same cost as the CLA. In other words I effectively gave it away. Sigh!

For anyone who is serious about film and good old fashion manual photography skills, the the Pentax LX IMHO is unbeatable.

Good luck with your sale Jonathon but I do hope that down the road you don't end up suffering sellers remorse. Some items of photography equipment are deserving a permanent place on one's shelf even if not so much used, but as icons of photographic history and the shear pleasure and pride of ownership.

Maybe I'm just a sad romantic!

Hey all,
I recently purchased a second-hand Pentax ME-F that had been sitting in a cupboard for who knows how long. I did some playing around and after a couple of test shots the advance lever would just continuously wind and the shutter release wouldn't fire. Any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
I've heard this has been an issue for the ME Super model, but this has autofocus and therefore the internals have a different layout.
Happy to provide more information and photos if needed.
Cheers
I don't recall that the ME-Super was auto focus, in fact I'm sure it wasn't. However, as for your ME-F issue, if you are handy with tools and willing to learn, you could always try this:- link

Good luck.

High quality, manual focus, prime portrait lens, for Pentax.

Described as In excellent condition throughout, just serviced and with virtually no signs of use/wear. Inc box, case, caps & 6 month warranty (plus faulty Pentax lens hood also)

A tad expensive at £219,99 but described as 5star and excellent. Good copies are also becoming scarcer. I considered buying this myself but it would be a poor bridesmaid to my recently acquired and stunning copy of a Pancolar 80mm f1.8 with which I'm still on honeymoon.. lol...

Nice examples , particularly like the 2nd image (I've always loved the DA35 macro) - was it taken in Essex? Braintree by any chance?

This is a very capable camera indeed... am looking at doing a specific long term project with one if I can arrange it post launch... will post the results here if I do...
That's something to look forward to; I hope it happens. Thanks.

I would give my left testicle for the mono k3iii
Sorry Spad, my bad for failing to read the start of your thread.

As for your left testicle, I'm sure there must be a market for these. Maybe try 'Preloved' for starters. If no immediate takers then perhaps you can temp a buyer with an option to buy your second testicle at half price. You can then afford to buy that new lens you are after as well.

Good luck with that!
