Interesting set of images from a camera with clearly great potential for those who love monochrome. Many, many years ago I enrolled on a short photography course at college which concentrated on black and white images and processing. In those days with such an abundance of colour film, Kodachrome slide film and the like, I wondered why anyone would seriously want to shoot in boring black and white when we saw the world in vivid color. That course opened my eyes in more ways than I could have imagined to a whole new dimension in photography and image representation. I've never looked back since!

That is what I have been looking for. Superb Mono/BW call it what you will. 12,13 & 14. Is what I have been chasing since my first Digital piece of kit. Ram raid on my savings pot very shortly. Thank you for posting these.

Thanks both... yes, there's so much to be said for giving yourself specific parameters in any art, I think, on occasion, and then working within them... I used to work in advertising for a number of years, and we used to talk often about "overchoice" ie how too much choice can sometimes (not always) hamper decision making...
This is a very capable camera indeed... am looking at doing a specific long term project with one if I can arrange it post launch... will post the results here if I do...

As with much of your work it is probably worth seeing at a much larger size. No. 5 as a 20x16 would make a great wall art piece and no.6 is superb creative piece

In fact IMHO they confirm my suspicion (limited for now) that the K3iii mono handles the highlights with so much ease that it will dawn a new era of interest in B@W

Bill, have you printed any yet ? I believe the new camera's advantages will be shown to their best in the printed form.

Some excellent shots there. I think this camera is going to do very well and will prompt a few sales of Limited lenses.

Yes, good point re the printing... haven't had the chance to do that as yet, but def one of the areas that the camera is meant to shine...
Will let you know as and when I do... am trying to get hold of another post launch... am touring with the day job for the next few months, so will be bumping into plenty of urban material...

Thought this might be of interest... I was asked by Pentax to put the K3iii Monochrome through its paces for a couple of weeks pre-launch in March...
I really, really enjoyed my time with the camera... a great addition to the Pentax line up... as those of you who know me a bit will know, my interest in these things tends to be more to do with what you can do with it, as opposed to the hardware specs themselves...
But what I can tell you is that I was hugely impressed. Handles really well, lovely damped shutter, small, solid, and some noticeably subtle and smooth graduations/shades of grey... thoroughly enjoyed using it.

Am very busy with the dayjob at the mo, so might be a bit slow answering questions etc, and I've mentioned as much technical stuff as I know above, but to sum up, it's a belting camera, and I definitely recommend it... full product details here.
