Hello Richard, I am really sorry to hear about your sad loss and it makes Saturday's day out pale into insignificance. I think it is admirable of you to post this explanation as you must have a lot more important things to consider at present other than apologising for not attending on a day out. I hope that you will be able to bring yourself to come with us on a future meet.

Best wishes
David

Another benefit of the K-5 as briefly mentioned by Marky is the significantly better autofocus. It has transformed my 55-300 into a usable lens for wildlife, on the the K-x it would 'hunt' regularly but on the K-5 it locks on straight away and focusses very accurately.

Sincere thanks to everyone who entered the weekly competition and to those who contributed to this Forum thread. The publicity certainly did the entries no harm as the quality and quantity were both great. It certainly made the judging difficult!

Please pop on and have a look at the entries and the results. Congratulations to AndrewA, the best of a very good bunch!!

Hi Jacqui, the lens you have bought is not 'a load of rubbish', but it's not as well regarded as the 50mm F1.7. I have both and get excellent images with each. The F2 is supposed to be a bit soft wide open, but I haven't particularly noticed this with mine.

How much did you pay?

Hi John, not sure if you've seen the movies 'Waynes World', if so you will know that I was being light-hearted!

Also, have a look at the last line; 'Best wishes, with tongue firmly set in cheek' and I don't think there's any room for doubt.

Those who know me will understand I am not the malicious type, so I hope this doesmn't get misconstrued.

I think a tripod is a non-starter when shooting insects outside as they move about too much. F11 to F16 aperture, with either very high natural light levels, or preferably diffused flash. To got the fash over the end of the lens, use the flash off-camera, or more often I use the good old Pringles Tube diffuser with a 90 degree angle in it and this works a treat.

It's difficult to assess the focus on this shot as the flower head is deep and round. It would be better to upload a shot where the point of focus is more clearly defined and then we could provide better advice.

Best wishes

Hi Nuri, I also have a K-x and I have not noticed any issue with mine. It is strange that you say this as Trixie has mentioned a similar problem with her K-x, if this is the case it is puzzling as there should not be differences between individual cameras but it appears that there may be. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm very sorry about this John, but unfortunately you are 'denied'.

Please do not sue me via the European Court as I have insufficient funds to defend any actions that may be taken against me.

Best wishes, with tongue firmly set in cheek.

All very impressive, very clean and sharp and excellent framing. I particularly like the Red Arrows parked up and the Battle of Britain flight.
