Absolutely top class Simon, every one of them. The Northern lights image in particular is spectacular and is the best of its kind I have seen on this site this year. I love the way your images display such clarity and purity and I would love to know which camera and lens combination you've used here - I'm guessing K-5 and DA 17-70, but I might be way off the mark?

On the brick wall shots I have to say that the whole wall on all of them is out of focus so it's almost impossible to say whether one part is worse than another. A DA*16-50 should produce sharper images than those of the brick wall - if these were shot with my DA 17-70 they would be a lot sharper. There's also a fair amount of distortion, which is to be expected.

I think you should do some tests of text shot both straight on and at an angle, e.g. a cereal box or similar. Compare these with another lens you know to be sharp and you'll see if there's an issue. Judging by the brick wall, if these are representative I would be a little worried.

BTW, have you calibrated the lens to your camera?

Shot a wedding today with Shaun Wilson and used the K-5iis and K-5 mk1. Used only two lenses, Sigma 105mm DG EX Macro and DA 17-70. The two lenses were interchanged between the cameras.

In a nutshell, the K-5iis blew the K-5 completely out of the water, mainly due to the sublime focussing accuracy. It is a demon in low light and nails accurate focus almost 100% of the time. In a wedding shoot situation, this is gold dust. By comparison, the K-5 was hit and miss at best and missed focus 50% of the time.

I will be buying another K-5iis as soon as the price comes down and will be trying (again) to re-calibrate the K-5.

The third one is what attracts my eye the most, all are well shot, but this one is a little different.

Hi Iain, welcome to the Forum. Don't write off your old lenses just yet, they will work fine on your K2000, albeit you'll have no AF and some will have no auto aperture.

I think your camera is also known as a K-m (same beast) and if so the noise you are hearing is the sensor shake mechanism which is intended to dislodge dust particles from the sensor on start-up. It can be switched off in the menu, but there's no point in doing this.

Just leave it as it is and don't worry!

I think it's a bit unfair to the OP to detract from the original intent of this thread - i.e. to offer his new DA 16-45 for sale His intent was not to extract riddles from the Forum members.

So, I posting this comment to hopefully assist Petros and get the thread back onto the subject, i.e. does ayone want to buy a new DA 16-45 in an unopened box?
