WR and non-WR are exactly the same optically, any variations will be due to manufacturing tolerances. I've had several of these, both WR and non-WR and they have all been very similar in IQ. Depending on your budget and what you intend using the lens for I would recommend you getting a better lens, maybe a DA 17-70, or for a cheaper option a DA 16-45, both of which are quite a bit better than the 18-55.

It's not considered best practice to offer your (expensive) gear for sale on your very first Forum Post! It doesn't inspire much trust or confidence with the Forum members. Neither will poorly shot upside down images.

My K-5 has focussing issues with all types of lenses, including Pentax glass. It just isn't consistent - for example I can take the same image twice from the same spot with the K-5 and the Pentax DA 17-70 lens and one will be in focus whereas the next is off. This doesn't happen with the same lenses on my K-5iis, so it's definitely a camera problem. It gets worse with low light, but it is there to some degree in all conditions.

I wouldn't be too hasty to blame the lens, although it could of course be at fault. The first thing to do is to take some test shots to see if it's focussing in front of or behind the subject, then calibrate it using the 'AF Fine Adjustment' in the menu. Of course, this may not help that much, with mine it both front and back focusses with the same lens!

Plenty of us in and around the Sheffield area, keep an eye out on the Forum and you will see details of get-togethers, any of which you would be most welcome to join.

Best wishes

Is it straight forward to use older lenses on a kx?

Yes! You must set the menu option 'Use Aperture Ring' to the 'Permitted' setting and then away you go! It tests your eyesight and your focussing skill, but that's where the fun lies!

Definitely the last one here is the standout - it is a striking image and well worth braving the rain for!

A microfibre cloth slightly damp does the job extremely well. The best ones are just the normal cleaning cloths you can get from the Supermarkets, no need for any fancy cleaning solutions.

Hi Russ, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. The 12-24 is a very good lens, really sharp, good contrast, nice colours. You have to be a bit careful with it as it can tend to distort a little and exaggerate perspectives when tilted up or down, but it's definitely worthwhile having one in the bag.

Well done Jon, the shots are really superb and your clients must be very pleased with them.

They are a great advert for your skill as a photographer as well as for Pentax / Sigma equipment.
