The Pentax one is by far the best it's the O-RC1, I wouldn't look at anything else if I were you. I have two of them, they work superbly well and they are waterproof too.

I've tried the cheapo ones and they are not worth the money. Get the proper gear and you won't go wrong.

The AF works great for me, very accurate in low light too. Best AF I've had on any DSLR by a mile.

I haven't used any of the tracking modes as I don't tend to do this kind of photography.

K-3 is a superb camera, as I found out this weekend when shooting a professional cycle event with the K-3 and the K-5IIs. The results from the K-3 were a league ahead of those with the K-5IIs, the more I use this camera the more impressed I am.

Sorry if that's strayed a bit off topic, but in essence what I'm saying is that the AF on the K-3 is very good, especially at wide apertures.

These are very natural looking and not like HDR at all, in fact I would go as far as to say that I am impressed too and that's saying something for me where HDR is concerned!

If these are from standard in-camera settings then congratulations to Pentax for getting them so 'right'.

Colour for me too - but select the red shorts and pull down the colour satuaration and luminance a bit. As it is they distract from the face. The colour balance on the skin tones is very good I feel.
What's this Nigel 'Select the red shorts and pull down............', my goodness you have to be careful what you are saying

I think more appropriate wording may have been 'reduce the red saturation on the brightest red areas of the image, e.g. the shorts'.

Back to more serious matters, I like the mono one the best, I think some of the colours clash a bit and distract attention from the little boy.

Well done Stuey!! It is nice to see your images in print or on a website, even if there is no financial reward. I was pleased to see that the brochure for yesterday's Tickhill Grand Prix professional cycle racing event which went on all day in the sleepy South Yorkshire village, featured several of my images shot at last year's inaugural event. I've also got some on their website www.tickhillgp.com

No great shakes, but I am proud of them!

Hi Carl

Yes, they do look better on the second set with the adjusted WB. I do still think there's a hint of yellow on the Chalk Lighthouse and having seen this structure 'in the flesh' so to speak, I know it is pure white.

I would try pulling the yellow channel down and see what that does; it would also make the grass look more of a realistic green as this too still looks as though it has a bit too much yellow in it.

So, a very definite improvement on the second set, but still not quite there for me on the colour balance.

Hi Carl, I love the Lighthouse images but for one significant thing. Composition is great, sharpness is great, colours are nicely saturated.

The thing that bothers me is that they both look yellow instead of white and this is not how they are in real life.

I think I mentioned something a while back about a yellow tinge on some of your images and it is very noticeable on these. Unfortunately because of this it spoils them for me.

The other pics you've posted here are superb too, but again they have the yellow tinge. I don't think this is intentional (is it?), maybe there is a settings issue somewhere on the camera or in post processing?

Sorry to give this feedback but I think it's best to be honest because I think it is holding back some of your shots from being absolute stunners.

Best wishes
David

I've replied to your PM about this Teleconverter, which used to belong to me. There are no mechanical issues with it, but Mike-P is correct when he says it will not work with SDM or HSM lenses. The glass is good and it takes sharp photos. I sold it when I bought my Pentax 1.4 TC, which is in another league altogether.

I like it here Tim, although when myself and Mrs. S. got married we moved to a place called Killamarsh, which is actually just on the Derbyshire side of the South Yorks / Derbyshire Border. It's part of Sheffield, so seems strange to call it Derbyshire. I had to think long and hard about moving here, Yorkshire born and bred so I am.
