If only Pentax would make a DSLR where the 'winding lever' was actually spinning a dynamo that produced enough charge to take one photo...

Shaky, contrary to popular belief, moderators are not here 24/7 (we'd love to be, but other things get in the way sometimes ), so sometimes a contentious remark can pass us by for a while. Thankfully Amin has now apologised for his post, without moderator intervention, which is how we'd all like it to be.

Which swiftly brings us to this episode with the link that K10D mentinoned which according to your view the person who called the cops to complain about the photographer who was taking pictures of the sunset also should be applauded. Unless of course you take a different view on this one compared to the person who called the cops when she saw me with the camera.
Can we just agree that points of view are going to differ on this subject? I'm sure none of us would really object to a quick question from an 'authority figure' if done with respect and courtesy - innocent before proven guilty and all that. I think the main problem is when it feels like an interrogation. If you've been at the wrong end of this, although innocent, you're going to feel more strongly about it than if you haven't.

However, as Hardgravity has pointed out, every now and again these suspicions are well founded.

I wouldn't want to be a police officer.

If the man taking photos from the window had been a paedophile, would the person that reported him have still been wrong to do so?

And has anyone noticed what camera he was using?

Can we keep discussions general, rather than personal please.

Often have just my K10D and FA50mm f/1.4 - I just love this lens and can happily use it all day. It's mainly used like this if I'm going for a walk with The Wife, so that I don't end up spending too much time on any one shot.

Use whatever aperture gives you the depth of field that you're after. I've shot macros with apertures from f/2.8 to f/22 - in just the same way that you would alter the aperture for 'normal' shots, do the same with macro.

At work we have 10 rolls of Kodak 200 speed 24exp print film that's about 2 years out of date. If anyone wants it for the cost of postage then they're welcome to drop me a line.

No idea what the colours would be like on it, but if nothing else it would be fine for checking whether light seals are okay in your latest ebay bargain.

If anyone's interested I'll find out what the postage would be, just a couple of quid I would think.

Fair enough, one to pop into when passing then.

Doh! I missed your cow shots , very nice, took some of them down at Roding Valley Meadows near Loughton last year.

Not even heard of Prior's Hall Barn before, another place to visit, although I notice it's not open again until April.

Martin, it seems that 40% of monitors are still 1024x768 or less (here and here), so images of 1024 pixels wide would be a complete pain for them.

And although I have a 22" 1680x1050 screen, I don't maximise my browser (it's about 1325x920), and as you've seen from my example above, a 1024 wide image pushes content out of the screen and means I have to scroll. Okay, the image would be fully visible, but I'd still find it irritating.

I'm more than happy with 800 pixels for images, I really don't see the need for anything bigger. If you want to have larger images, have them as a link (as is the case at the moment with this auto-resizing). That's my opinion anyway.
