Who owns both a 645 and 35mm pentax?
I wonder if anybody can look at thier lensmounts and tell me if it would look possible to built a 645 to 35 mm lens adaptor and have it retain infinity focus? ie... will the 35 mm lens fit inside the 645 mount on the body with enough room for an adapter to link the aperture and lectrical contacts up?
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Don't think so and you would also have a problem with the image circle so it isn't possible.
You might fit it on the 645 mount itself and hope it will cover the film/sensor but you lose infinite focus then.

ps. don't have a 645 though

I think you also misinterpeted part of the question...
I know there are adaptors to use 645 lenses on 35 bodies, I'm hoping there will be a way to use the 35 lenses on the 645d Bodies... the image circle won't matter, just use less of the sensors area...
It would be a major coup for pentax 645 shooters to pull say 20 mp stills off the 645 with thier ff 35 mm lenses....

You clearly asked 645 to 35 mm lens adaptor
I read it as "lens adaptor" but you meant "35mm lens" probable.

If they will ever make such adapters I don't think they will be cheap you might be better of buying a K-7 instead.

The Pentax K mount has a registration distance of 45.46mm. To retain infinity focus you need to use a lens with the same or greater distance. The Pentax 645 system has a registration distance of 70.87mm, so even if the lenses could be mounted inside the 645D's throat (which I doubt as lenses tend to be quite a bit wider than their mounts alone) that's still a loooooooong way back!

Nice idea Don but I think the laws of physics are against you on this one.

silly question really but have not got a clue

Do you think the 5k price will include the digital back.

Will a MF camera work with out a Digital back if so what is the advantage of a digital back.

If Pentax stick to their traditional 645 comcept then there won't be a digital back as such. The sensor will be built into the body just like your DSLR sensor is.

It might be a challenge to make SR as effective with such a big sensor to shift, but who knows until it's actually announced properly....

The countdown just started in. There will be some kind of announcement on a Japan Photo Exhibition (March, 10. - 14. 2010)

Teaser out now on the Pentax Japanese website. 645D teaser

Apparently there's a count-down to March 10, by which time there is an event in Japan where attendees can actually try out the 645D in person.

It's going to happen this time folks!
Best regards

maybe I'm just projecting....
but...
a lot of companies put a great deal of thought into thier teaser marketing...
and it is supposed to have an hdmi (read video) out....
and the marketing image is a silhouette of a 645d against a motion background.....

if it does video...... I'm in!

I'm already canceling this years motorcycle trip to Montreal, and trying to book a couple weddings instead, in anticipation of PAYING for one.....

don't let me down Pentax!

I'm like Don, I canceled a few things myself. I will definitely buy me one. So far I've been using a Canon EOS 5D MarkII for digital, but I love my Pentax 645nII and the Pentax Glass. I use most of my Pentax lenses on my Canon as well. With what I have seen so far from the 645D on pictures, it looks to me, that the whole sensor unit can be pulled out of the body (it's like an film insert that's hinged to the body) for cleaning and I assume also for replacing one to upgrade to a newer model. Just like a Digital Back.
Greetings to everybody,

Will be interesting to see what they come up with, I'd be tempted, but it's probably well out of my price bracket anyway. Last rumour I remember was initial release in japan of a pretty small no of units, so I doubt we'll see any in the UK for a good while yet, guess we'll know more after the trade shows over the next couple of months.
