You're not helping me at all here Chirpy! Keep thinking "I'll get one... I won't get one..."

The close focusing is something I'm especially interested in, I know it's not macro, but for flowers and similar I reckon it would do a great job. I think it would get a lot more use than my Tamron, just because of the portability, AF and close focus.

I'm gradually persuading myself.

Thanks for these.

Don, what were you waving over your head to get the cat's attention?

That makes some sense and could work, but this converter could be anything really, the presumption is that it will be a teleconverter, but I'm sure if it was, they would call it that!
Historically Pentax tele-converters have been called converters, take a look at the pic on here, as well as the others listed under teleconverters.

Remember the name shown on the roadmap is just that - the intended name, not a description.

Would be nice to know exactly what they are planning though.

Never heard of the brand, but I would be put off by this user review on the ebuyer website.

They haven't got the K10D any more. It is discontinued. You can still find stocks of it at the moment, but no more will be made.

I think a replacement is needed unless the 'street price' of the K20D soon comes down to about £500.
I know it's discontinued, I just meant it would seem daft to develop and introduce a camera between the K20D and K200D, when the K10D is just such a camera. If they want a camera in this range, just keep making the K10D!

The danger in introducing a new model between them in the future, is that it will probably surpass the K20D in features, and undercut it in price (much like the various Olympus models brought out over a year or so - the cheaper ones had higher pixel counts and better features than the 'top of the range' model), rendering it obsolete sooner than is reasonable.

The K10D has a lot of life left in it yet. If anything is introduced, I reckon it will be a K10D Super, with updated image processing and perhaps the interval timer and another couple of features from the 20.

Perhaps a new sensor, around the 12Mp size, but it hardly seems worth it.

Yes while Pentax says there is an embargo on - there will be a new camera to replace the K10D, and it will sit between K200 and K20D and there will be a new K100 replacement.

When - don't know, but Pentax staff have been told to keep quiet.
Between the K20D and K200D? I can't see it myself, but then I'm no expert in these things. I would say they've got such a camera at the moment, and it's called the K10D. I just can't see what they'd change. Either they upgrade the K200D a bit, but then it would be a K10D, or they downgrade the K20D a bit, but that would be a K10D.

Something below a K200D? Well that's a K100D. Seems if they want to have cameras in these areas, they're already in existence.

And price point? With just £300 between them, there's not a huge amount of room for another model.

Hopefully now they're concentrating on:

a) New Lenses
b) Design of K?D
c) Replacement for K200D & K20D

I think other lower range models would be a waste of resources.

Well, I was just looking at that. I'm sure that when it was announced, and until quite recently, the RRP was £899, but it now seems to be £999, which has made me think again... Can get the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 for about £750 and the zoom would be more versatile.

I was thinking that the retail price would be about £100 less, and that would make it more attractive compared to the Sigma (even though it would still be more, SDM and weather-sealing would be a bonus). But if it's around £900 - £1000, I'm not so sure...

Just found this on the Warehouse Express site, a new one in Pentax fit too, as far as I know. A little bit more pricey though, definitely up your street though Clarky.

Don't think I've ever seen this one in a Pentax mount before, but here it is on Amazon...

Looks as though Sigma may be issuing more of their lenses in PAF fit.
