I can't speak for your batteries of course Dan, but my 2600mAh 7dayshop branded NiMH batteries give me ~700 shots in my *istDL2

Nearly as good as the one use lithiums, and cheaper in the long run.
Those are the ones I used, but it's been so long since I've used the 'D' that I can't remember at all. Don't think it was as much as 700 though - perhaps the DL is more efficient than the D?

By the way, have you moved? Thought you were Cambridgeshire way before.

Interesting what you say about recharge AAs .
How many shots do you get out of a fully charged set?
Er, can't remember, it's been a while since I've used it now. 250? I would always have a charged spare set, so I was never too concerned about how many I got out of them.

P.S. It's too late for cake, you won't be able to sleep properly.

Hello there Father, would you like some tea? Ah, go on, go on!

Anyway, have a look at this thread, it talks about rechargeable CR-V3s, eneloops, NiMHs etc.

I always just used NiMH in my *istD and never really had any problems with them, but the eneloops and Lithiums seem popular too.

Perhaps they felt they had safety in numbers. That middle one's really eyeballing you, I'd watch him!

Bad Dan
Sorry!

Remembered I'd done this pic a few weeks back for something slightly different, and thought I'd pop it up here today.

South of France? By 'eck! It's Malham Cove in Yorkshire!

The sign is a complete photoshop creation, the original does look somewhat nicer without it. It could have done with more contrast, harsher shadows on the legs would have made it look a bit more 'right'.

Anyway, Basildon, and the whole of Essex for that matter, has plenty of beauty spots, they just don't look like this one. Rolling countryside yes, sheer limestone cliffs no.

And I'm sure you could have got a good shot without the sign in it.
Doh! Didn't think of that, if only I'd stepped to the right a bit.

The sign looks 'photoshopped' in to me.

and the ducks look like mallards, not that I'm an expert in photography or wildlife.

No, the ducks were 'hooded' ducks, and you don't want to go near the hoodies round here.

Ok you have my interest Whats a hooded duck : Do they have big teeth and claws or something
All of those and more - you never turn your back on a hooded duck.

And you think you have nasty wildlife over there!
