Hi, I used to have a K7 and noise wise I didn't find it any different to the GX20 / K20, In hindsight I would have skipped the K7 and gone straight to the K5 which is a big improvement at high ISO.

FYI SRS have been selling a lot of used bodies on E-bay with 12 months warranty. K7's were £299 although there were none left when I last looked, may be worth giving them a ring, used K20's £250ish. They have a number of used K5's with 12 months warranty for about £450. Should give you an idea of price for private sales.

Not sure what's causing it. Are you shooting in raw or jpeg? What processing are you doing to the file and what software is being used? I vaguely remember someone having similar problems that was caused by the software (settings) being used.

You may need to post a photo to show us exactly what you mean.

If you use a polarized filter it can create banding at wide angles.

The additional battery only comes with the II and not the IIs according to the SRS website.

Just tried mine on the K5 and K5II. I've never really had any problems with my 17-70, in fact I bought it after trying someone elses briefly and was impressed with the speed of focus, far quicker than the other SDM lens (16-50, 50-135, 300) I have.

On both cameras in a back room with no lights and it is dull, it pretty much locked on to whatever I pointed it at, albeit more positively on the K5II as would be expected.

On the odd occassion it didn't lock on with the K5 I just fractionally lifted my finger and gently pressed the half shutter again and it locked on. This can be done very quickly and I have used this technique for sports events with longer lenses as I find the AFC to be slower to react than this method for me. If you've not tried it then it may be worth trying this method to see it makes a difference.

Just had the K5ii delivered this morning.

Had a brief play with the 50-135 on to see if the SDM focus was any quicker and I was pleasantly surprised. Not a scientific test but to my eyes it seemed a noticeable improvement on the K5, not quite as quick as the Sigma 50-150 HSM but it seems to be in the same race now.

The real disproportion is between the prices of both the K5 (particularly) and the K5II and the K5IIs. But photographers, particularly first-adopters, have long been used to paying handsomely for useful but incremental improvements.
I would imagine there is a need to clear the old K5 stock, if the K5 and K5ii were too close in price I could see there being a lot of K5 left on the shelf. Despite having just bought a K5II with the additional trade in, it wouldn't surprise me if its price drops in the not too distant future by £100.
