Apparently foreigners can't fill in the questionnaire, can we still do it nonetheless?

Hermanville-sur-Mer is not far from Caen, once an important bastion of William the Conqueror, and where you can visit the Peace Museum and the two abbeys. What is ironically interesting is that centuries after the conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy and his army , Allied Forces headed for the Norman beaches on D-Day 1944. Caen was almost completely destroyed in the battle that followed, luckily the Allies did not destroy the Abbaye-aux-Hommes, indeed it is said that if the Abbey is destroyed then the kingdom of England will fall too.
As for the seaside my favourite spots in the Calvados region are Omaha Beach, Arromanches, Trouville and Honfleur.
Again, have a nice time in Normandy.

I doubt it very much. You might find a confrontation if you were in a city centre, but again it's doubtful in most places. There have been some incidents where the Police have misinterpreted the law and tried to enforce non-existent regulations. Who knows why.
Thank you John, that's what I thought anyway, I have been in Britain many times and I have never had any trouble taking photos even in city centres. However it is true that you sometimes come across policemen who abuse their power.

We all should care for good quality - but we must not forget to have fun

Hope I have not annoyed anyone with poor quality photos. After what I had read yesterday I was wondering...

I don't think you will have any trouble at all even with a tripod, the beaches belong to everybody. I don't understand your fears however, should I understand that I would have some trouble with the English policemen if I were in the same situation on an English beach?
By the way where are you staying in Normandy? I could give you advice on what to see...
Have a nice stay and come back with photos to show us in the gallery, hope the weather will be fine.

I really don’t like some of the comments I am reading here!
I joined this community because I happen to have a Pentax and to share one of my passions with other Pentax users. I also got the impression that members were respectful and positive about people’s work, that it was not a place for the elite and that there was a good deal of humour… That’s why I joined the forum, among other things.
You know, I don’t want to submit my photos to certain French forums or the two major photo magazines in France. The comments are very often negative and rarely positive, as if every photographer was supposed to be a professional. I have another job, I am not a professional photographer, I simply want to take the best possible shots and when I think one is good I post it in the gallery or I enter one of the competitions. Hopefully I get reliable feedback. If I don’t get any feedback at all about one of my photos then it certainly means it is not a very good photo.
However I want to point out that somebody’s opinion about a photo is necessarily biased like in any art (take music for example, what you like maybe your neighbour hates it but it does not mean it is bad). Of course there are the technical details but there are other aspects in a photo.
Obviously most members respect each other on this forum and I hope it will continue that way.
The gallery is here for people to show their photos and hopefully before they post one they believe it is a good one which is worth showing. I like it although I must admit it can be improved: why not limit the number of photos that each member could post every week or every month? Wouldn’t it be possible to be notified of comments? …

I started a topic about the DA 35 Ltd:

www.pentaxuser.co.uk/forum/topic/smc-DA-35mm-f28-Macro-Limited-9253

I was then thinking of buying a new lens to complete my Pentax K100D Super kit and I finally bought the 55-300.
Although I am aware the 100 mm Macro is more universally useful I am still thinking of purchasing the DA 35 Macro Ltd in a few months. What I like about it is that it seems to be a good walkabout lens with macro capability. You can shoot landscapes, architecture, flowers... It looks versatile to me and seems to correspond to my type of photography perfectly. Moreover the reviews are generally very good.

I am afraid I am not going to enter the competition this week. I think I have quite a few photos that would make good entries. However I always have second thoughts showing people on the internet.
In France, there is some kind of image rights law which limits image use.
I am sorry! However I may be wrong, that's why I would like to know your opinion about that matter.

Interesting subject! Does it have to be a close up?

A lot of entries this week and many interesting shots, it would take me a long and hard time judging this week's competition, so good luck to the judge!
