I said the photos in the competition gallery represent France well except the frog legs, I know the English call the French "the frogs" but I don't think a lot of French people actually have frog legs for lunch or dinner. Not in Normandy, at least.

I voted No and it has nothing to do with the takeover.
I just hope they won't change Pentax into Pencoh, Ritax, Ricohtax or whatever...

Ce que j'ai vu représente très bien la France sauf les cuisses de grenouille, désolé je sais que c'est notre surnom mais nous n'en mangeons pas beaucoup, me semble-t-il.
Hope everybody understands what I mean...

You'd like to see landscapes rather than seascapes, what about cityscapes?

Don't forget to post your impressions on the lens

I have a 55-300 and indeed it is a very good lens which offers more possibilities and is optically superior compared to the 50-200mm. The build quality is quite good and it is capable of producing good images throughout the focal length range.
As for the 35 mm if I could afford it I would rather choose the 35mm f/2.8 macro Limited rather than the 35mm f/2.4. It is a Limited which means excellent build quality and it would be the perfect standard walkabout prime with the macro possibility as a bonus

I miss Quickshift on my 43 and 77 lenses so I sympathise with your position. Still don't think I'll be in any rush to swap them for the DA equivalents just yet, although the DA35 Macro is easily in the same league optically imo (hence me never actually buying a FA31).
I'm considering the 35 macro as well. I want a decent prime in the 21 to 35 mm range, and the macro seems to be worth the money.... but Gerri likes to use af, and I worry that if she got the 35 macro on during a wedding shoot in low light the hunting for focus will be a problem for her... yet I know the 31 ltd price will definitely be a problem for her.....
Just buy one - you'll both love it!

And mine doesn't hunt anything like as much as my D-FA100. It's not perfect but it's pretty good considering the range it has to cover. AF is generally quick as it's quite a small lens physically (less glass for the camera to push back-and-forth).

I'm sure the new DAL35 will be excellent too, and cheaper and faster. I also reckon the DA35 Macro will be better and more versatile though...
Hello, how versatile is the DA35 Macro? Does it perform well when used for landscapes for example?

Price, I was looking for value for money that would allow me to try out my new hobby. Don't regret my choice as I have learnt so much using my K100d - am looking at a K20d now, but might wait to see if a new Pentax SLR brings the price down - what do you think, should I wait?
I've had roughly the same experience with the K100D Super and I don't regret my choice either. I think I am going to wait to upgrade, I prefer to purchase other lenses for the time being.

They (Pentax France) had my K100D Super for nearly 2 weeks last summer. They replaced the sensor (it had weird pixels which were particularly visible on the high ISO photos) and gave the camera a clean. They gave it back with an extra 3-week warranty. So I find the service highly satisfactory, very good indeed!
