I like your photo Aura and I share your dislike of modern doors and windows I was having coffee with a friend of mine in the village the other day and we got on to this very subject. I was telling him how I had made all the windows in my house with wood because I prefer the look and the feel of wooden window frames in an old house..... He said (in Greek)" oh I am gonna replace this window with a plastic one, you don't have to paint them you know". His wife shouted through from the kitchen...." the last time you painted a window frame in this house was 45 years ago"..... and do you know all the window frames in his house are fine ..... jeff....

Check this out for calibration link, hopefully others with more knowledge than I will come along with some good advice and recommendations about systems.

Aura just a question. Is your screen calibrated? Hope you don't mind me asking. I like the doors with the bins.

These tree's were here before i was born, and will be here long after I have passed on to spirit. I reckon they were saplings in the 1700's, everything would have been very rural then.

Avon Nature reserve has much wildlife, including the naked kind.

I did see a Kingfisher but he was much too fast to capture.

Looking towards the left is the back of Devises Road.

The smoke is from the allotments which has bee here since the war, one of the oldest allotments in the UK, a lot have now been built upon.

Its not until people start discovering area's of Salisbury that they realise there is more to the city then just the cathedral.

Here is the allotments, you can see the old gasworks drum in the background. How empty the sky will be after it has been dismantled. The council say they wont repair it, if it goes wrong (been there since 1842) gas is now being pumped in from Southampton.

Thanks for reading my post, I hope it's not too long.

I like these shots, to me it's nice to see the non tourist type places and as Smeggy mentioned the historical value of these shots as well
Louise, I am impressed with your attitude/approach in that you have taken shots of the 'norm' so to speak and ot tried 'the fantastic' that so many do when starting out and to be honest your choice of subject matter has a lot more appeal to people than many would think
I am no expert an anything but I'm sure that there are plenty more on the forum who will appreciate these photo's

This is the beginning of Salisbury's nature trail which I am going to do in a separate post.

There used to be an old paddling pool on the green bit towards the right in the distance. It was here during the war and no picture that I know of exists of it, which is a shame. Health and safety filled it in, but the old vent still exists that supplied the water. Grandparents say they can still remember the air raid sirens sounding, as they sat on the sides watching children paddling.
