Hello Auratodd
all i can say is there are many people with learning difficulties and as i have a form of Dyslexia and I work as a photojournalist for a news paper I would never be ashamed of that so to say or admit that you have learning difficulties, you should be proud to admit it and then you can get help.
i dont have depression as i am very happy with what i do and i have meet some very nice people on this site that help me for one.
I do take crap photos which i do a lot of the time i get some help by others, like some i could say dave storm puma jim larry and others from the site, i never let it break me or let it put me down all I can say is be happy have fun with it and keep working at it as it will come.
so keep your chin up as we all are still learning
Hi Richard thanks for your kind words, even David Bailey had to start somewhere. There is help now for people with learning difficulties, there are also some metal health people out there who take good pictures. I just wish pentax was advertised more

Whilst not exactly a learning difficulty, I personally suffer from narcolepsy, and can definitely relate to using photography as a means to ward off depression issues.

I also find this forum to be both interesting and good willed. The people who are on here seem to be genuine, and interested in other people developing their work. One of the things that makes me glad I shoot Pentax
Hi josiahk thanks for your reply. What is narcolepsy if you don't mind me asking? I have curvature of the spine so when I take pictures, I often have to strighten them because they are not always level. It's very educational this forum and I have learnt a lot, Pentax is great althrough not advertised as much as it should be. All Nikon or Canon.

I had a look at your Fliker picture, I like your shot of the bee, how did you get that? OK take care and have a good day

I hope you don't mind me bringing this subject up, but how many photographers we we know of or are on this form that have a learning disability?

I am not ashamed to admit that I have learning difficulties, that doesn't make me stupid. I first got into photography when I was sixteen at college, even then I faced negative barriers, because the lecturer wouldn't let me do everything on the course because he just couldn‘t see beyond my learning difficulty. Something which probably contributed to my depression.

I love taking pictures of old buildings and things that no longer exist because it takes my mind of my depression which for some people can be a terrible illness. I had to leave one photography forum because of all the nasty comments I was receiving about my pictures. Their not brilliant I admit but I am glad about this site because I know I will receive positive if truthful advice on how to improve my photography.

It’s just makes me sad that some stranger can sit behind their PC thinking it’s cool to berate another member on a forum because they think it’s ‘fun’. WELL IT’S NOT! It’s not good to make someone feel so bad that they feel they have to leave and go elsewhere, put yourself in that persons position. How would you feel if someone said something bad to you, this can have devastating consequences on vulnerable people.

How many people on here can bravely admit they have depression, or learning difficulties?

I have visited ‘Snap’ which is ran by Mencap, I take my hat off to some of them because they have gone out there and taken nice pictures and don’t care if someone criticises them nastily. Thanks for reading my post. I look forward to more constructive advice.

Hi I want a wide angle lens for my Pentax K30, currently I have a standard 18-55 lens on the front. I have been told that a wide angle would give more deph of field then a standard lens.

Can you tell me where is he best place to get one and wuld it come with lens cap or would I have to get that seperatly, also my lens is 52mm with lens hood, would I also have to invest in a new hood, or would my hood fit new lens? Thanks very much.
Why do you require more depth of field? At 18 mm and f8 to f22 your depth of field is going to be pretty good. Rememeber that you shouldn't focus at the most distant object to get the maximum depth of field. Experiment with focusing on an object that is closer, say 10 metres away and see what the result is with various apertures. You can use a slower speed at 18 mm and get reasonable results but a tripod is always going to give best reults.

This youtube video explains depth of field very well

Hi thanks for your answers, so for landscapes would I be better off staying with the 18-55m?
